Re: Minnesota hosts U-18 and Canisius 10/26-10/28
Did the game go final?
Did you tie the U-18 team?

This tie doesn't sit well with me. But with it being an exhibition with super messed up lines I won't read too much into it. Seems as though it was just practice.
sounds like parenteau got his with a shot? in the foot or what?
Heard the news reports that some goats went missing from the Ag department and a crate of hair gel was stolen from the cosmetology school today.
Coincidence?
Maybe the boys were gassed.
Check the river for floating goats!
A very entertaining game tonight. If you like racehorse hockey, then tonight's game was right up your alley. I have to give credit to the USA under-18 squad, who looked like like they had the Gopher's style playbook tonight, for putting on a speed show and puck handling clinic to begin this game. USA came out flying in the first period, stunned the Gopher D, and dominated play from the puck drop with their speed and precision passing game throughout 1st period. USA quickly popped in two goals (one by Gopher recruit Lettieri) on poor D coverage and several unforced errors by the Gophers and USA was suddenly up 2-0.
Then in the 2nd, USA got a game misconduct and a 5 minute penalty on a vicious checking from behind hit on Budish...who was slow getting up. The Gophers came back on the man advantage and B-jugs buried one in front...then the game turned chippy. Serratore got the equalizer in the 2nd period on a nice shot in front. Later Parenteau would be escorted off the ice, hobbling on what looked like an ankle as the game got even more aggressive. Third period and OT was gritty, end to end hockey. The Gophers settled down, applied pressure in the third and OT, had some grade A chances, but couldn't bury one on 6'3" USA goalie Thatcher Demko.
Demko was HOT all game, stopping some awesome scoring chances by the Gophs. Shiby was left out to dry by the Gopher D on the first 2 goals by USA but IMO played solid all game and had some great saves with traffic in front (Grade: A-). Overall, the Gophers played poor D in the first period, then began to dominate more on the boards and in transition as the game progressed, but ran into an fired up, high flying USA under-18 team with a hot goalie tonight (Grade: B-). Final: 2-2 (SOG 38-27 Gophers). Rah!![]()
He was limping so I assume foot/ankle, but I did see him out later in the 3rd so that's a good sign. Fasching took a pop from Serratore as well, I hope our recruit is fine. He is going to be really good.
Bruise on his knee. He says he'll be fine. Probably out Sunday to heal up.
Thanks for the info msoh, hear about Fasching at all? Hope our prize is fine.
Is it too late to recruit that goalie? Dang he played good. Especially after getting shaken up and almost having to come out of the game at the end of the 2nd.
Nice work Harley, that about sums up what I saw as well. They have some nice players on that team (2 of them are Gophers and possibly more), they are going to destroy St. Thomas tomorrow if they play like they did tonight.
Yeah he played tough, wonder what school (if any) he is going to?
As far as colleges, Demko is still leaving his options open, and if he continues playing like he has recently for the NTDP, those options will only increase. The schools he listed as talking with include: Cornell, Western Michigan, Northeastern, UMass, and Denver.
Agreed. It really looked like USA stole the Gophers playbook tonight. IMO when they're on their game like they obviously were tonight, USA can skate with ANY D1 team. Awesome game to watch, I love this style of hockey.
