Minnesota hosts Penn State: 3/13 & 3/14

Re: Minnesota hosts Penn State: 3/13 & 3/14

I want to give some props to Gadowsky for sitting Koudys Saturday and apologizing to Lucia after the near debacle on Friday. He realized that some of his guys were out of control Friday, including his captain, and he sat him. Classy move by the Coach.

I meant to post the same thing. Hope he continues to improve the program as he seems to deserve it, and the B1G needs to be better than they were this year.

Noticed you're in South Sioux. Musketeers fan?;)

Yes, catch several games a year, when I'm not going to Kato. With your glut of quality d-men, I'm not sure where Zuhlsdorf fits in the plans for next year, but you got a good one. He's playing a Suter-like # of minutes for us, and with Pionk is anchoring what would otherwise be a pretty mediocre defense.

Agreed...and if possible that's almost an understatement. But its awesome to see someone else with the same enthusiasm for him that I have.
You can add me to the 'Reilly Admiration Society' list as well. That should make it even more awesome for you. ;)

One other comment: did anyone else notice the creativity the Gophers showed in finding different ways to enter the zone while keeping possession, especially on the power play, instead of just dumping and chasing? Some real adroit drop and/or short passes to the guy going in with a full head of stream and either skating around or through Penn State's attempted traps? I wonder if that's something they've been really working on in practice, or more of a spur of the moment type thing resulting from their otherwise solid play in both games. Either way, it was effective and fun to watch.

Excellent point. When MN is clicking they use short quick passes & speed to create time & space. When MN struggles they start using longer, home run, passes that are easier to pick off and they make them an easier team to defend and the lose the advantage of puck control.

If 5mn_Major gets to feeling too awesome, he can read the USCHO Hobey watch article, in which Reilly hardly gets a mention.

I was thinking this during the game last night. I had a few seconds there  when I wanted some shots on net, not so many passes, but then I thought it worked as a great weapon against a shot blocking machine like Penn St.: keep the puck moving quickly thus never giving them the time to get into the lanes. :)It seemed to be a great game plan by the coaches.
