Good win by the Gophers tonight with an asterisk. The Gophers applied a lot of pressure and totally controlled play for two periods like they were playing pond hockey. But the Gophers sat on their lead too much in the third period, looked out of sync, and were outshot by a resurgent Mavs team 16-6 who had 12 grade A shots compared to 2 for the Gophers. Fortunately, Wilcox bailed them out again with some HUGE saves in close. Condon and Kloos had very good hustle tonight, got pucks on net and combined for a G and 3 As. Mike Reilly's puck movement and shot selection continues to impress and now has 4 Gs which is ahead of Nate Schmidt's pace at this time last season after 9 games (2 Gs). The Mavs looked sluggish and sloppy for the first two periods, which was a surprise compared to the hustle and excellent puck possession they demonstrated last season when they made the NCAAs for the first time in 10 years.
But I expect the Mavs to regroup and come out with more intensity and physicality tomorrow night. Go Gophers!

Rah!
