Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: Kangas Kool-Aid For All!

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: Kangas Kool-Aid For All!

Good start, at least in the end results.

Need to not lawl around when we have the lead. Imagine what a team like UND might do with those opportunities.

Need to step on that throat. Need to not make sloppy passes.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: Kangas Kool-Aid For All!

Those second and third periods were horrible (especially the second).

Passing was sloppy, and so was decision making on the puck.

Alt was brutal tonight. Ness made a number of bad/soft plays as well.

Oh well. It's nice to start the year with two wins. Hopefully they get some of the wrinkles ironed out before UNO comes to town next weekend.

It's nice to have Barriball back.

What do people think? Will Lucia continue a goaltender rotation for a while?

I hope it's a 70-30 split or so.

Lucia's health this year will make a world of difference especially after seeing him look like his old self this weekend. I would be suprised if the Gophers have a poor season.

Lucia will be nauseous and losing his cookies if they don't fix the D now. They almost screwed this game up and next time it's lights out.

Exactly! After seeing him show his players the other side of Don Lucia for the first time in a long time I gurantee he will not lose his job. He is in fighting mode! Thank you the club will show heart this year.

I haven't been paying a lot of attention to lucia from the band end of the arena, but when I have been watching he definitely has definitely not looked like the lucia of the past few years. Very, very encouraging even if our D isn't.

He usually didn't yell at the players like that outside the locker room. Of course, he didn't break out tDon Death Stare. Not since Long Island Jeff have we seen that look. I hope to never see it again.

I don't think I'll ever forget that look. Cripes, it made ME feel like I did something wrong...

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: Kangas Kool-Aid For All!

Being at the games I haven't been able to watch Lucia on the bench (or hear any post-game interviews for that matter). Care to elaborate on what you all have been seeing?

Which leads to a question I have been wondering about for a while; are post game interviews (either by FSN or the radio production) archived anywhere online? I don't get to a radio in time after home games to hear it, and I'm always at the pub for away games where instead of hearing the game I'm subjected to ****ty top 40 and *shudder* karaoke.

If it is online I could probably find it if I looked hard enough, but....I'm lazy.

It's just the way he's conducting himself. He's getting emotional. He's letting the team know when he's angry and he isn't afraid to show it. There's a fire that seems to have been lit this offseason.

Yep. Usually he's rather stoic towards the players, sometimes lively towards the refs, on the bench.

Tonight, he let the players have it on the bench, and probably in the locker room.

I didn't really see him jump from the back of the bench and start yelling last year at all. In this game alone I saw him do it a couple times. And I wasn't really paying attention to him.

Of course, his health last year was questionable, and I wouldn't rely on Hill to do anything of that sort.

Glad to see the fire in tDon.

He's coaching for his job this season and he knows it. The big difference between him and Brewster is he actually has shown he knows how to coach in the past.

Nice pic! It's the aforementioned guy in the background I'm most concerned about though... He's been very good at transforming good Dmen into Disney on ice.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: Kangas Kool-Aid For All!

Pose a question to the Gopher fans.

What does it mean for next week that UNO defeated Clarkson 8-0 and SCSU lost to them 6-2 given the preseason thoughts on those teams and next weeks opponent (UNO)?
