Minnesota Gophers 2024-25

Now that we think about it, there does seem to be some sort of parallels for BC and UM. In 2007, the final season for the previous HC of each, BC was the last team into the field and the Gophs were likely the "9th" team. Both current coaches moved up from the assistant ranks over the summer when there was an unexpected departure. Eventually, both entered the golden age of their programs around the same time, and eventually, met in the 2016 championship game. Right about then was likely the peak, or start of the decline, for both programs.

I'm thinking TTT put some sort of evil spell on the Gophers that day, only messed up and hit the Eagles even worse.

Shoutout to the Gophers for the DIII love 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The photo used in this Insta post about the sellout was of the crowd at last year's UW-River Falls vs Elmira NCAA DIII championship game

Hoping to make it over this year! will be at Augsburg vs. Gustavas/St. Norbert in a week!

I really really wish they'd have the damn Frozen Four next door in Mariucci, I'm guessing they expected to have Big Ten games using it though...

The fact is, the greatest women's college hockey coach of all time looks at Brad Frost on the other bench and licks his lips every. single. time. If this is the end for Murphy in college—and I'm not convinced it is—Minnesota has lost the right to consider themselves national title contenders, which should never happen for this program. What the solution is, I don't know. I understand a firing is unlikely given what just happened in men's basketball. But it's hard not to see this trend of dominance lasting at least through next year, and if the athletic office and the hockey program decide to stick with how they've been running things, I promise you the fan apathy will continue.

Could this fit into the narrative that the tunnelers just have been in "unfortunate" situations and have really been "outstanding" over the last few years in post season hockey?

I suppose certain posters could make that rationalization.

The best team won today. Is the score reflective of the relative abilities of each team? Perhaps. After getting a penalty from a smash of Abby Murphy into the boards, the Gophers pleaded for a major, didn't get it, and promptly committed a penalty of their own to equalize. Then Wisconsin scores during the 4 on 4. The third period saw the Gophers unable to sustain pressure on the Wisconsin net, while allowing numerous juicy looks at Hannah Clark.
I thought the crowd was probably 50% Wisconsin fans. Gopher fans were leaving early and often. Nothing to be ashamed about for the year. Maybe more fitness training?

The SH goal and this sequence seemed to be the key stretches of the game. Dan felt strongly that the rush that made it 4-2 was started by an uncalled interference penalty on UW against Huber. Given you and others didn't mention it, maybe not. Either way, UM is enough of an underdog that they aren't likely to win a game where two such sequences go against them. This one was like a 1-and-a-fraction goal swing -- the one UW got, and the chance for a 4-on-3 PP that UM didn't.

I thought Huber basically got boxed out into the net by the Wisconsin player rather than interfered with, but lots of people think otherwise. I could easily be wrong..lol

State government ending reciprocity with WI would very much help swing things back in the Gopher direction. I don’t know if it would help substantially, but it would help no doubt

I'd like to know when Murphy went into the boards hard from behind in yesterdays gane Wisconsin wasn't hit with a five minute major? They had no problem handing one to Murphy earlier and they both looked about the same.

"...they both looked about the same"?!?

One was a hockey play. The other was criminal battery.
