Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

I like that. BSU is a roadtrip my group has wanted to make but haven't been able to make it work. With Houghton earlier this year, the SCSU/Kato away games, and Madison/Chicago later this year, I don't think we will be able to make the Bemidji trip this year. Hopefully this is true and the Gophers play up there again even is it isn't the WCHA.

Bemidji is a fun place to go. The facility is nice. There are some absolute smoke shows there. Alcohol can easily be purchased all over the place.

I was there a few weeks ago on a spur of the moment deal. They were playing Western Michigan and the students weren't there in full force (break) but it was still a great time. The beer is more reasonably priced than most sporting events as well.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

So what I expected to be 6H and 2A vs. MN teams is now:
2@Xcel vs. SCSU & UMD/MNSU
2@BSU
?
That leaves 4 games we don't know about.

If there are 2 nWCHA teams or 2 NCHC teams that would be involved in this Xcel deal, wouldn't it make sense to have set opponents? The conference-mates should never play each other, and the Gophers can always play the odd-team-out the next year.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Anyone know of anywhere that I could get a single seat or SRO ticket for Saturday's game under the absurd asking price of stubhub? What are my chances of getting a ticket from a scalper at the game at a reasonable price?

Find anything yet? I MAY have a ticket available, waiting to hear from a friend regarding their family/kid situation for Friday.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

I assume that means Bemidji gets a series with Minny then?

Edit: Dammit. Didn't realize there was an entire second page already.

Haula is definitely in the lineup tonight, and will take his usual spot on the power play. He will, however, be held out of penalty killing situations.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Hankinson just said 8 games against the MN teams next year. Really hope someone confirms the schedule soon.

The Gophers were the only top 10 team to win (or even tie) tonight. Seven losers and Quinnipiac and UNH had the night off.

Thanks. Bummer. They didn't get the "must play 4 years NCAA to play in NHL language!

Well at least for today, MN's WCHA rank matches their national rank in the pollhe's (I combined all three spellings) so we don't have to have that argument again.

Just biding my time til I head out to watch the Grand Rapids game....

For those of you who have been in a coma, at 1:30, Grand Rapids is on FSN. Jake Bischoff is number 22. Avery Peterson (uncommitted) is also one to watch (8). Jonah Bischoff is only a freshman (12, I think, look for long blond hair and Bischoff wide-legged skating style) and had 2 against Hibbing the other night. He was playing with Peterson in that game.

I've only seen a few games. Peterson in early games, at times seemed to wait for his linemates to dig the puck and feed him. However, the other night against Hibbing, he was pretty much doing whatever he wanted against them in the part of the game I saw, just controlling the play when he was on the ice and making smart passes. If he continues to improve, he could be a pretty good player after a year of Juniors. I know he is on some draft lists.

Anyways, will be a good day, live HS Hockey outdoors followed by Gophers/Whouix and then the Wild. Might even stay up to watch the girls game as I know a number of them.

I'll be watching. Good luck to the Halloween Machine!

Thanks. I moved here and it took me awhile to start to cheer for Rapids as my Alma mater had been knocked out of the tourney a few times by them when I was a kid. But now that I've played with some of the kids on the team, know their parents, or they knew my kids in school, I can cheer for them and my alma mater. In fact, when they met in the tourney a few years ago, I had to watch in a different room from the wife and kids, since we were cheering for different teams.

Nice. Only in Minnesota do you find that much passion for high school puck. Going to be a great day of hockey. Enjoy my friend :)

Eagan looks pretty good, or Hibbing is that bad... or maybe Hibbing is just playing their worst game of the season. ;)

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Other than Johnson (7), Hibbing didn't look like much against Rapids the other night either. Think it is a combo of both.

Gonna look pretty ugly out there with the Orange against Red...won't make for a pretty picture in HD.

Watch out for Benilde, they can score in bunches when they get going. Especially #12 who will be a Badger in a year or two...
