Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013: From Dinkytown to Steel City!
THOUGHTS:
Haula had a very good game and Condon showed intensity last night. Boyd looked pretty intense as well, looking especially good on the PK. He is turning into a great PK player. Would like to see them press more and create some SH opportunities with the speed they have.
I am disappointed the first line doesn't seem to be pushing more. They seem to be relying on skill plays rather than trying to just overwhelm the other team.
And the back-checking pressure needs to intensify. It wasn't that the team was loaded with stellar D-men last year that made them such a good defensive team. It was that the forwards back-checked so intensively and their aggressive forecheck meant they possessed the puck more. If they can regain their intensity from last year, the D will improve.
M Reilly looks great with the puck, but not always great without it. Although he has made some poor decisions on the PP. I don't think my dream of him being the the next Rookie LeLeggia will happen. Skjei looked pretty solid most of last night. And I still can't believe people were arguing Alt would be better than Schmidt. Schmidt is a stud.
