I managed to enjoy the article based on the subject.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

As of right now (12:30 on Saturday) there are still a few dozen GA seats available. Don't bother using the map, just select "best available"... they're GA after all :D

I was just playing with the seating chart myself. Should be a great crowd and a great atmosphere at Ridder in about 3 hours!
Go Gophers! :)

Was a good turnout today. Didn't look QUITE full, but it was pretty close.

Good game by the Gophers today. They couldn't pull away from Boston fully in the first period, even though they really controlled play, and put their foot on the gas harder on the second and never really looked back.

Well done, ladies. Keep up the good work and pull down a third straight championship.

Keep in mind that a bunch of people with seats stood on the rail instead of using them.

It also looked like they may have set aside too many seats for BU, as there were quite a few empty chairs in the section behind the BU bench.

Two possible explanations: those tickets were returned, but too late to be resold; those seats were sold, but the holder opted to find a rail spot, because it can sometimes be tough to see play along the near boards looking through all the glass that gets in your way.

There was such a big block of them early on, with most rows totally empty. It was a stark contrast to the section right at center ice and the one behind the Gopher bench, which were very close to being totally full. So I suspect your first explanation is the correct one.

Press conference from yesterday:

I didn't write this, but I agree (from GWH Facebook):

I love Kelly Terry. She is so FAST and a great scorer AND she has such an impish, sincere smile. Fun and fast! Congrats on a hat trick (I threw my hat) during your last game at Ridder. All of the fans will miss you.

We found our corner section seats were somewhat obstructed by a railing in front of us so I stood at the top for much of the game.

no doubt the thought of everyone who has ever seen her play

“Kelly when you have the defensive assignment against the Lefort line you’re not really expecting to get a hat trick on top of that are you”?
Had to be the dumbest question.
Every line has a defensive assignment, and that's the difference between the Gophers and other teams, they take their defensive assignment seriously, it's not just the blueliners job.

Sounds like the local media was heavily represented at Ridder today prior to a practice. Hope to see some good ink this week! Perhaps some video too.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

actually, though I admit she has speed and can score, I have never been a fan.

I don't know if this is you but I seem to recall someone mentioning some issue when she was younger that caused them to not "be a fan" of Terry. Only watching her as a Gopher I know she is worth the price of admission and I'm confident that if it were possible for her to be a free agent, ANY team would be more than happy to plug her into their lineup

IMO, scoring is farther down the list of things that Terry brings to the table. She is as effective a defensive forward as I've ever seen. For how relentless she is with her defensive pressure, she doesn't commit many penalties (her minutes are down as an upperclassman from her first two seasons.) So whatever Trillium didn't like in her game as a youth player, I'd be willing to bet the problem no longer exists.

Many kudos due to Frost then. In my experience, not many D1 coaches actually develop their players, probably an important competitive differentiator for Minnesota. I will admit to love watching your team play, and not seeing her glaring pre-NCAA weaknesses evident on those occasions, though obviously I no longer see her play with any frequency.

You are quite right, I see her penalties are down greatly from Freshman year too.
