Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

Milica McMillen unleashed a weapon of a caliber that I thought was outlawed in 27 states including Minnesota.

I've noticed that one difference between this year and last is the relative lack of goals being scored by our defense from the point, or even getting on net, so Milica's blast/goal was especially good to see. I do realize that with the graduation of Bozek and Jalosuo this aspect of their game was likely to take a hit...hopefully we'll see more hard + accurate shooting from the point as the season progresses.

ARM's writeup has a rare error in it...
The whole recap was kind of a mess. The hat trick error, the fact that I asked Kelly about it and don't remember what she said, losing the audio file of our interview, having no comment at all from MSU, missing Davis' 100th point ... {sigh}. Then I couldn't even get it sent from Mankato because I no longer had internet connectivity and didn't have my phone cable along to use to create a hotspot. At this rate, there will be no NCAA bid for me. :o

The Writers' Percentage Index includes a component for last 16 games so you still have a shot if you get hot in the second half.

Kelly Terry's exceptional play this season merits a special tip of the hat. Whether forechecking, backchecking, playing on the power play, killing penalties, or creating scoring chances for herself and her linemates she has been absolutely relentless. She is the heart and soul of his year's Gopher team.

Your very first post is a good one and 110% correct! Been thinking the very same since the puck dropped on the 2013-2014 season.

I think I'd a fallen outa my chair if anyone had told me that the Gopher hockey program would be undefeated in November. I predict that comes to an end with a men's loss at ND.

Getting a little bit lost in the hubbub surrounding "the streak" is that this year's team at 10-0 is off to the third best start in program history.

11-0 before a tie in 2004-05 (eventually 14-0-2 before being defeated for the first time) and, obviously, 41-0 in 2012-13.

It leads to a philosophical question. Is this, in fact, the third best start in GWH history, or is it just a continuation of last year's best start in program history?

New team, new start.

Five Minutes with Sarah Davis, including:
What will be the key to success for this year’s team?

I think the big thing is to not get caught up in the past and just start a new page. The coaches really say this a lot, but we’re a different team than last year. We can’t expect the same things. Just come at it with a fresh start.

Gophers women's hockey takes 59-game winning streak to St. Cloud

First, continued congratulations to Sarah Davis on reaching the century mark.

That said, I'm still trying to figure out what stat site the Star Tribune is using for their information about Kelly Terry. She hit the century mark last season and is now at 116 points going into today's game at St. Cloud.

Speaking of the century mark, Hannah Brandt is at 98 points, so it wouldn't be surprised if she gets to 100 this weekend.

I was wondering the same thing.
