Middlebury's 2004 National Championship Photo

Does anyone know where I can find a link to the infamous "congradulations" photo. USCHO had one up for the longest time but I couldn't find it on a quick scan. I was hoping maybe Ed, Chris, Norm, or Webb might have stashed away that treasure for a rainy day.

Middlebury has their national championship team photo page on their website but the banner is hidden behind the guys' heads and you can just barely make out the "D' mistake.

Just googled "Middlebury 2004 NCAA"

Not necessarily a "mistake." Can you not see a play on words for the graduating class?
On the other hand, it could simply have been a mistake, but Middlebury haters were very quick to push that narrative immediately after the photo was snapped.

Can you believe that just maybe that discussion has taken place on here before :D.

Sign didn't matter....score did!.....especially at that venue...

So why did it quickly get taken down off the Middlebury website and the photo they used for the Middlebury wall of champions has the picture taken so that the banner isn't showing?

BTW- The intent was not to re-hash this subject. I was simply trying to show a co-worker the sign.

This is the most intriguing post - to me - on the subject (also noting the author):

Then why did Middlebury College ask USCHO to alter a news photo to change that (which we won't do), and why did the school crudely change the photo on its web site?

Just sayin'. ;)

It`s odd that the photographer did not pick it up. It was staring him in the face. Right W? As to the sign not mattering, overall that is true. That being said, when one of America`s supposedly elite academic institutions drops the spellimg bee ball in such a public fashion I am sure there was very few amongst us that did not chortle. It is the American way...as in Glenn Healy`s song Dirty Laundry...¨"Kick em when they`re up...kick em when they`re down"

The most amusing part was the spin control ... If they had just laughed at themselves, maybe it would have played better. The way they spun it and tried to deny everything made them look more arrogant. I've always found that the best action to take when you screw up is to say "hey I screwed up"

Yeah, They blamed it on a parent didn't they????
