Michigan Wolverines 2016-2017 Season

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2016-2017 Season

Kaczynski, while deeply disturbed, was absolutely brilliant. He was overqualified for sparty. The guy went to Harvard for undergrad, but yes then did come to Michigan for Grad. School.

The worst kind of Wolverine, the out-of-state kid who was hoping to end up at Cal Tech or Chicago or Princeton but had to settle for UofM. Usually, that just manifests itself in a dysfunctional lifelong bout of academic overcompensation and smugness. You certainly saw that come through in Kaczynski's early academic career at Berkeley where, despite a rather middling reputation and floundering career, he became utterly convinced of his own brilliance and intellectual superiority. And in the grandest of Michigan Man traditions, Teddy chose not to accept his place in the academic food chain and slough off to some Cal State campus to establish himself as the insufferably pompous member of the mathematics faculty but rather to shoot for the stars, to publish his manifesto and proclaim his brilliance for all the world to marvel upon.

I remember swimming at Houghton Lake one trip back from Tapiola, which is about 20 miles south of Houghton, where Michigan Tech is.

On the same trip, I'm sure we also swam in Portage Lake, where my uncle had a place- which is part of a bed of water that separates the Keweenaw from the rest of the UP- also what separates Houghton from Hancock. Tech is on one side, Soumi College is on the other- the old name for Finlandia.

You can do better than that. Knowing that difference is not that hard.

The point is I DON'T CARE. Both are in the middle of nowhere, does it even matter?

What is funny here is that you do not understand anything. Read it again, use your words. Teddy went to Harvard for undergrad. He then came to Michigan for Graduate School because there are few universities with better all-around Graduate Schools.

They're both in BFE, you get north of the bridge and no one cares.
look at the map again skippy, one of them IS NOT north of the bridge. But keep telling yourself we're the ******** while you pick your nose and eat your boogers.

It does. I hate to say it, but you look pretty dumb when you get things *that* wrong.

Lash out insults having no idea what you are talking about? Makes them incredibly hollow.

Quick tip- stick to hockey. Otherwise people will think you know nothing about that, too.

Call it middle of nowhere all you want- professional hockey started in Houghton. And there's all of the major ties between Michigan and Michigan Tech. You can't be dismissive of all of that.

Contrary the poorly educated fan of the Ann Arbor college, Houghton is NOT in the middle of nowhere. It's an hour north of the middle of nowhere! And comes from the guy who was born in Ann Arbor and grew up in the Copper Country! Both areas have many good qualities. Just because someone prefers one or the other doesn't make them wrong. To show juvenile level disrespect to the others though, does not say much for one's education and upbringing..

Agreed. Graduating from Michigan people assume it conveys a certain amount of liberal education on the graduate. You know, he/she knows something about art and history, and geography, and literature. In his case that assumption appears to be incorrect..... but don't put that on all the graduates. Most of them are ok.

Re: Michigan Wolverines 2016-2017 Season

Michigan will play Bowling Green in the 2017 GLI semifinal. Unless you meant to say the GLI Championship in 2017. :D

D'oh. We've lost to WMU/MTU in the semis so often the last few years it all blurred together.

I'm sure fate will allow for a Tech/UM game.

Wouldn't be surprised if John Madden is an assistant like Buccigross said last week in a tweet.
