Michigan vs Michigan State 1/8-1/9: The Weekend Without the Trophy Game

Re: Michigan vs Michigan State 1/8-1/9: The Weekend Without the Trophy Game

the Current Head Hockey Coach of Michigan State University. tCHHCoMSU.
Or TA, for short.

I wonder if Vegas has a line yet on which team will draw the most fans to Munn. I'm kina hoping that there's a ton of arrogant yellow & blue, just as a sort of reality check for said coach.

You remind me of the CCHA first round weekend that we had to come up to Munn for. When there were a ton of UM fans, and we swept. Can't remember what year that was, but remember that it was Shawn Hunwick who was thrown to the Spartans. He did well.

(on the flip side, my first year as a fan, back in 1990- I was on the edge of the student section- all the way to our blue line (rink center). Right next to us for the MSU game was a Spartan family..... So it was bad at Yost at one point, too)

I and my wife were in Florida for <strike>Easter</strike>(not sure why we were in FL in mid-march) 2010, so it was 2 less of us, two more of you.

Maybe Izzo will show up Friday, wearing the same incredulous expression ...

Yup 09-10 Hunwick's first full season. The year that Gravelese screwed them in Ft. Wayne against Miami in OT.

I think with a 6:30 Friday start time, you're more likely to just have an empty rink. Maybe that will be a decent enough reality check. There's a reason Michigan's home games have traditionally had 7:30 start times, a lot of fans can't/don't get there earlier on a weeknight.

Are either of your schools back in session yet? BU and BC play next weekend and both schools are still on winter break for those games - both sides are annoyed that these games were scheduled at that time rather than when students are back. Seems somewhat similar here, though you guys play each other two more times later on so maybe it's not as big a deal.

Not sure on um, but MSU is not back yet.

Start time usually 7pm. TV determined this start time.

Most goals Michigan has ever scored in Munn.

The last time Michigan scored that many in east lansing was over 50 years ago when the game was played at Demonstration Hall in a 9-4 win. That was the same Michigan team that scored 21 goals on Ohio State.

I love retro, but this is just silly. 16 goals given up over the last two games at Munn to umaa.

What a God awful, disheartening, disgusting performance. Absolutely pathetic. If Mr. Hollis didn't get a wake up call on the state of the MSU Hockey program Friday night. A large 2x4 needs to be applied to the back of his head.

I admit that I haven't watched sparty that much this year but if history is any indication (and it normally is) sparty will be up for these games. I don't have the exact stat available but aren't the vast majority of games between the two settled within one-goal (like 96%)?

OK, I was wrong. We want pizza!!!!!!

We tried to tell ya.

With any luck St. Patrick's day will be the last for the staff.

Another game to play this weekend. This is SOP for Michigan, come out like an NHL team on Friday and play like a pee-wee team on Saturday.

All of us in EL thank you for jumpstarting the second half we need for a new coach.
