Michigan Tech vs Michigan at Yost Time for tBig Time

Re: Michigan Tech vs Michigan at Yost Time for tBig Time

Ronald Reagan was president in 1975? Wow. Learn something new everyday, I guess.

Now pardon me. I have to go fish a history teacher out of the river.

This is the kind of intelligence you get from Walmart Wolverines like MGoBlueHockey.

Re: Michigan Tech vs Michigan at Yost Time for tBig Time

Mike Neville, Phoenix Copley and our secret weapon
Blake Hietila.

Go Tech, see you at Yost and remember to be nice!

Re: Michigan Tech vs Michigan at Yost Time for tBig Time

Kind of conflicted on this one. With it being so early I am leaning towards "Go Tech"

Ah, my bad. Should have read the tech wiki page better. I confused one of your pathetic stats with another. 1981 was your last tournamnet appearance. Which is even funnier. Hilarious actually. Why are you even playing hockey anymore?

You went to the wrong school. You're a Crimson Tide fan, through and through.

I for one am deeply honored that in spite of Tech's "pathetic" stature etc. that the esteemed University of Michigan hockey team will allow the little ol' Huskies anywhere near their precious and holy hockey rink and Mr. Berenson, the god of Ann Arborites. I fully prepared to admit that there is not a snowball's chance the little ol' Huskies will even score a single goal this whole weekend, let alone have any chance at a win. They are simply far too "pathetic" to compete. Congratulations Michigan on taking your sweep to the bank a few days ahead of schedule. Sleep tight.

I don't think the buffoon comprehends sarcasm. ;)

WOTS is that we will grace you ruffians with our presence next year at MacInnes. ;) I'm making that trip.

Re: Michigan Tech vs Michigan at Yost Time for tBig Time

And yet, Michigan has the most successful program in college hockey history. Please argue against it. I'd love to hear it.
I grew up in A2. I know A2 better than you. I did Science Fairs plus numerous Boy Scout events in Yost when I was a kid. I graduated from Huron High. I was back in A2 in March clearing out my mom's house. I always tell people, Ann Arbor isn't a city, it's a cult. That's why they do stupid things like cut down beautiful blue spruce trees to put up UGLY solar panels right along Plymouth Road.

That said, U of M is a football school. Always will be. That's why the hockey and basketball arenas are named for football coaches. So while you arguably have the most impressive record in college hockey, they won't rename Yost to Red's Barn when he retires/dies, which at the current rate, may be the same day.

If you go to a game, be sure to go to Cottage Inn pizza near the Diag. Lorenzo the manager is a big Mel fan and told me stories of the hockey team coming in for pizza. Next walk through Nickels Arcade. It's one of the few remaining "Pure" Ann Arbor places. If you get there early on Friday, the pub grub in the bar at the Gandy Dancer is delicious and cheap during Happy Hour 3:30 to 6:30 PM.

Since Mel coached at U of M for 20+ years, it will feel like a home game to him. I'm sure it will be a competitive series.

I'm most interested in how Copley is going to play. Sounds like he is rounding into shape again.

I'm also interested to see if the Huskies can become more disciplined. Averaging 32 minutes in the sin bin is not too healthy on the road, especially against the 4th best PP in the NCAA. (Neville and Petan lead the parade there.) On the flip side, Tech has scored TWO PPG's (5%) this season. Then again, UML scored two last saturday after going 0 for their last 29 IIRC.

And? Is that some kind of insult that Michigan football coaches are so famous that buildings are named after them? Since you are from Ann Arbor, then you know that Yost was a field house before it was a basketball arena before it was a hockey arena. It's been "Yost" since before there was official NCAA hockey. Why does it matter that it's named "Yost"?

We also have a school named after a rich business guy, a former President, famous people who have had companies named after them, etc.

Who cares?

I thought someone mentioned Friday's game would be on bigten2go? What are the options for fridays game?

After talking with my parents last night, I suspect that they will be more diciplined. As they report it, the team and Mel didn't exacly see even with the refs, and after a meeting with them, now have an understanding of some of the new rules, and how they will be called. So, I bet it will be even better than against Northern.

Wow, how classy. Attacking a legend. I'd wager that some day when Yost arena is retired, a new rink in Berenson's name will be established. I'm also betting that at 72 he's in better shape than some people half his age.

Mel's a class act and there is a high degree of respect for he and Muckalt. But don't be fooled, Berenson isn't going to let Tech walk in and push his team around. Competitive? Definitely. Feel like a home game? I doubt it.

So do I. Pioneer grad. Still live here.

The thing is, the buildings aren't named FOR former football coaches. Yost just happened to be one.

The theme is athletic directors. Yost Ice Arena, Crisler Center, Schembechler Hall, Weidenbach Hall, Canham Natatorium. Those were all athletic directors.
