Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Refs or no refs, that doesn't excuse allowing four unanswered goals in the third. A choke job is a choke job. They haven't learned how to close out a playoff game yet.

Agree with this too, hopefully they learn quick now.

Agree. Hasn't Tech had the lead going into 3rd in most of the games against Mankato, and they've blown them every time. Better figure that out real soon!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Tech played much better tonight than in Mankato.
Nothing, but good things to say about this team.
I was hoping to win, but pleased with the effort.
We will have a tough draw now, what a step it would be to win a tourney game.

Tech hoped to win. MSU expected to win. In the third Tech played afraid to lose the lead. After the lead was gone they took a couple stupid penalties as if they had already thrown in the towel because they didn't think they could come back. Mel might think this team can beat anyone but I don't think the guys believe that.

Having said that, great season so far. I'm looking forward to a frozen four run and hopefully a chance to prove I'm wrong about our confidence against Mankato.

Let's do it again in 3 weeks. The msu/tech games have been the most fun to watch all year long.

I agree as a Laker fan pulling hard for the Huskies I would say they played good but they didn't up their game to the level that they can reach. The Mavs are crazy good but so is Tech. It seems Mankato knows that and the Huskies don't quite realize it.

I hope that they come out flying in the tournament because it's been too long since the Up brought the hardware back home. Go Huskies!

And the refs suck. The call to make it a five on three at that stage of the game was bush at best.

agreed. and the reffing sucked. but still. what excitement to be in the championship game!! and our season goes on!

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

One of Daver Karnosk's tweets of the DMG implied Jamie has the flu, if so I thought he played pretty well. Agree with the sentiments we were playing not to lose, and MSU was playing to win.

Were we supposed to stay on the ice for the all tournament team and trophy presentation?

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

UND is playing like crap. (I'm a Sioux fan and attended the games.) It's not the region of death. It's get by MN or St. Cloud or whoever in the first round and then probably Providence to get to Boston.

Re: Michigan Tech post season thread, hunting for hardware!

Wow. I have never heard Mel that bitter towards the officiating. I mean, I was hot about it....somewhat normal; but for him to call them out in the presser repeatedly, that's not like Mel. He was really bothered by that third period, and has every reason to be - just normally doesn't show it.

I agree they looked tentative in the third, but when the way they were calling the game all of the sudden changes at the start of the third.....it's really hard for teams to not think about that, especially when it's not going your way.

As far as the NC$$ go, I'd say 60% probability we are in Fargo (St. Cloud), 30% to Proviced (Harvard), 10% to South Bend (Minnesota), 0% to Manchester.

When I saw tMel blow up in the third...something was up. He does NOT show that kind of emotion often.

He had every right to be upset. I was beside myself. It was like a totally different game we were watching than the first 40 minutes.

I was watching on tv (at the Xcel bar; decided I couldn't miss the MN game, but wanted to see SOME of the MTU game live). The audio was barely audible, so SteveMN and I were guesstimating what was going on.

Yes! I was shocked Mel actually pulled his guys off and off for good. I guessed he was going to do a short locker talk and back out....Nope! Pretty classless....

Also, was it just me or does MSU dive, crumble, and flail for calls quite often?

That has been their history. I think they are more aggressive now, and get AWAY with calls, rather than whine like their Coach from the movie Mask (Eric Stotlz).
