Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

“The Windsor Spitfires are really excited to add a player of Johnson’s caliber; he has exceptional speed and is a solid two-way player who is tough to play against. He’ll be one of the fastest players in the OHL next season. Johnson has three years of eligibility to play in the OHL and he will fit in well with our talented 1994 crop of players,” said Warren Rychel.

Like I said previously, he is a rare talent that would have been a huge building block for Pearson. While disappointing, I don't think it's a bad hockey choice for a player of his calibre. It would be worth making a trip to watch him play.

Just out of curiosity, I would consider making a trip to Plymouth to watch him play against the Whalers next winter.

I'm not generally one to get caught up in the NCAA vs. Major Junior debate. If he thinks that his draft stock is high enough, then maybe the OHL and 72 games/season is the best route for him. We shall see.

Ohmygosh. Maybe, like, they'll hire Crawford as an assistant, and ooh, Tiger could be the goalie coach. I bet ticket sales would skyrocket with Tech's newfound success. Everyone and their cousin would want to be in on the action! (Yooper/Banger pun intended)

Do you think they'll let me go on ice with Mitch??

Good choice for Johnson, bad choice for MTU hockey.

Why not just take all the seniors off the Calumet, Hoton, Hancock, and Jeffers team to skate for MTU the following season.

Interesting to note - Two weeks into the Leaman era at {PROVICED and they've already got their first two commits.

I heard Mel had two commits at his daughters wedding this weekend. He is doing his job well as coach and he hasnt even started a day of work so he his doing better then Leaman.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

that's exactly what I wanted to hear. No more competing for Finlandia recruits. (although Peter Rouleau was pretty good at hockey)

I was talking about coaches but I'm sure it will end up that way for recruits as well.
