Re: Former Huskies in the NHL

This could be the best season in a long time for former Tech players in the NHL. Here are the ones I know of that have a legit shot of seeing a fair number of games at the NHL level (expected games they will dress in the NHL this season):

Colorado Avalanche - Chris Durno (< 10 games)
Dallas Stars - Tyler Shelast (< 5 games)
Florida Panthers - Clay Wilson (10-20 games)
Minnesota Wild - John Scott (60-70 games)
NY Islanders - Andy Sutton (70+ games)
Ottawa Senators - Geoff Kinrade (< 5 games)
Ottawa Senators - Jarrko Ruutu (70+ games)
Pittsburgh Penguins - Chris Conner (30-40 games)

Did I miss anyone else?

Go Tech,

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Screw It, Somebody Look Up The Cheat Codes

Tanner Kero scored his first goal for the Rangers last night. It was an empty-netter to ice a 2-0 win over Texas at the NAHL showcase/tourney/thing in Blaine.

Kero had a good weekend, picking up two more key assists and a PP goal to help Marquette begin the season 3-1.

FYI, I'm not gonna give weekly updates on the kid, but I just thought I'd mention his good start. I'll probably check on the stats of all our recruits about once a month, as I usually do during the season.

Ottawa sent Kinrade to Binghamton, see below:

That was expected. Unless Ottawa's defense suffers from injuries or needs a wakeup call, I think Kinrade will spend most, if not all of the season in Binghamton.

Interestingly, Ken Holland played there in the early 80s, when the Binghamton Whalers were the Hartford AHL affiliate. He is a member of the local HHoF.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Screw It, Somebody Look Up The Cheat Codes

team is running up Ripley this morning.
From coach Russell about Saturday's Ripley run: "The team climbed Ripley three times (once for each period in a game). No OT was needed - we won in regulation time! They carried a rope top to bottom with the fastest runners in the front and back. The clock didn't stop until the last guy was across the line."

Here are some pics (albeit a bit grainy):

I wouldn't have made it halfway up. :o

I couldn't carry the rope ... on the level ... :o

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Screw It, Somebody Look Up The Cheat Codes

I just love the rules of Hockey.

Chris Durno got an assist while sitting on the bench.

He had made the first pass before getting off the ice, so got the second assist.

Anyone know what is going on with Murphy and the Sabres?

Last week on the NHL web site it showed him as an unsigned, unrestricted free agent.

Go Tech,

Don't expect CC to stick with the NHL penguins, he will be a permanent member of the AFL affiliate

Will he be playing on a 50 yard ice surface with 8 players? :p

Since we're drawing closer to the season, and we haven't seen this gem in awhile, I figured we all needed a reminder. Aside from more scoring being the priority, a little more of this would help too.

Unfortunately we'll have zero chance of making the Final Five after this year ;) ;)

And so will everyone else

Oops. :o

Well, whatever. Deeper into the conference playoffs than the first round. What I said still stands.

They said they are going to try keeping the name :p Still 5 games, just not 5 teams.
