Seriously, there are a hell of a lot of us this year. Not enough sousaphones to go around even. And we really were that loud ar rehearsal.

I heard there are actually fewer than last year. I'll have to bug Kenny and see if I can get a count.

Pep Band was in fine form this afternoon at the SDC. trying out the new digs with a roaring rendition of "Final Countdown".

"Roaring" and "loud" are UNDERSTATEMENTS. Flashy and I stopped in because he wanted to see the band in their new location. I was the one in pain from the lack of caffeine and the supposed 130dB blaring of my least favorite pep band song ever.* You guys didn't sound too bad though. Pretty darn good for your second day together.**

*I say that because in our arrangement (and it sounds like you have the same), the flute/piccs have whole notes and it's the most boring and awful part ever.
**You realize that almost physically hurt me to admit that, right?

Clarinets have it too. 75% of that song can be played with one hand.

Unless you realize that trumpets and clarinets share the same key and decide to steal the melody...which I ABSOLUTELY would never do ;)

And thanks for saying we don't suck :p Usually we're pretty ragged during the first few weeks, especially with phasing issues. Good to hear it sounds acceptable for a group this size. Give us a few weeks until football starts (and hope we can cram everyone between both 40-yard lines, which we do to cut down on it.)

If woodwinds get 99 Red Balloons, the brass gets Final Countdown. Deal with it. :p

Until I assembled the first of the Bonginets. People said they could pick me out on the radio broadcast.

It's true. Then again, you know you're an exceptional band when any section* has at least one member that can hit 120 db.

* though I don't know about the F'in horns. :p

I have no clue of the details you all are talking about, but if you are louder than past MTU bands.......holy *ing *it.

Just sayin'.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Screw It, Somebody Look Up The Cheat Codes

I really think the increased volume this year is largely due in part to the fact that the HPB now has a crazytechfan.
Just sayin'. ;)

Bummer about Thursday.:( We arrived just as the queen left the building. Had we gotten there earlier, we would have have played PKditty on our hand kazoos during the other contestants' talent.

Regarding Blake Pietila- have no fear for the wise one has spoken- he is on the U17 roster for this year as the uninformed will find out once the final roster comes out.

Well I can admit when I'm wrong. JSR has a pretty good source somewhere. Just had a chat this morning with someone about as close to the horses mouth as you can get. Confirms that Blake has made the US team --no explaination given as to why he's not listed on the roster--. Also confirms that if he didn't make it he was going the OHL route. Also "if Michigan comes calling he's going with them." Also Ohio State has already offered 4 year full ride scholarship.

Has heard nothing of this rumor that tech is trying to get NMU to release Chad. News to him if it's true. But he/they do wonder why tech didn't allow Chad to come in as a walk on in the first place..

enough talk about a kid who is at least two years away from playing college hockey.

Lets get the season started!!

McVittie was a goalie. As I recall he didn't get to play a lot because Gary Bauman played most games. Don't remember seeing him play any of the games I attended.

Thanks. I just checked hockeydb, and he only played in a few games each of his three years.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Screw It, Somebody Look Up The Cheat Codes

Wait, are you Frank Wilson? Though, I guess Frank Wilson was only concerned with games even older than that
Nope, although he has contacted me many times in the past. I was just curious due to the reference to MTU.

Ralph was probably around for the first hockey game...

eleneki was obviously around before me.
