Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

It might, if Steve is interested in sticking around at least a few more years. Honestly, looking at that list of candidates, I think Damon might get this job. He will obviously have a lot more recruiting contacts in Western Canada than the AFA guy.
I wonder how good a recruiter Shields is?

I believe he had a larger role in landing Copley and Phillips than most think, and not just because it looks good to have a goalie coach on staff. Being a former goalie, he also works somewhat with the defensemen.

What's all the new wiring work being done in the press box? Did they pull the ice up as standard?

They are rewiring the building in preparation for the new scoreboard.

Good morning lodge, just wanted to day I had an amazing weekend and my lady and I made it official in front of our friends and family on Saturday. I can now say there is a Mrs. Shirtless Guy. We're sitting on a plane waiting to head to Mexico right now. Thanks to everyone here who attended or thought of us from afar!

It is believed that every Tech alum, in attendance, was not single. Or in one case, much closer to being not single than before the wedding. :p

Here is one review of Mitch Reinke from Minnesota's 16/17 year old festival. I keep up with him as he is an affiliate player of Cedar Rapids (USHL) the team I follow.

Also we Mark Auk and Dylan Steman MTU recruits.

Mitch Reinke (Stillwater), a recent Michigan Tech and a budding star on the blue-line, only continued to prove his backers right here with clever play all over the ice and a wicked shot that made goaltenders wince

Damon Whitten is a finalist for the Head Coaching position at Alaska-Anchorage...
Whitten played a huge role in special teams performance improvements as well as recruiting. I, for one, would NOT like to see him go.
Although I like Bill Muckalt, I think Damon is the brains behind the operation.
His loss would be a big deal for MTU and it would be hard to bring in someone else of his caliber.

Tech has two recruits on the final NHL Central Scouting List:

Dane Birks at 121 and Jake Jackson at 170

With those rankings will both likely be drafted?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

That's just the North American list. I'm guessing Birks goes mid-to-late and Jackson is passed over.

Now that the ***** storm has blown over, I'm no longer a heathy scratch from this board.

Congrats to Tim, however I just need to clarify on the naming - are we going with "Mrs Shirtless Guy" or "Shirtless Gal"? The later could cause some issues with security.

In other news the Huskies will be sporting new black jerseys for next season as they no longer have any of the black jerseys they wore in 2012-13. No word yet on what changes will be made for the next set. More details this weekend when they arrive.

yeah things change when you drop in the Europeans and the goaltenders. you never know what will happen on draft day.

What happened with the old new ones?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

What happened with the old new ones?

Some jersey collector in WI acquired them according to what a little bird told me. ;)
I think part of it might have been driven by the large Senior class. They gave away about 1/3 of the set to the seniors and some of the underclassmen bought their jersey as well. I'm not expecting any major changes, but multi-color name and numbers would be nice.

Here are some photos of the recently released road jerseys. It is interesting what you notice when you get to see a jersey in person that you didn't notice when they were on the ice:
  • The "MichiganTech" that was to be on the back of the necks was never added.
  • The WCHA name and/or crest was never added.
  • Reebok patches were stripped off the jerseys. They were originally just below the neck in the front. You can see it best on the #31.
