Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

that's what the mister wants to do.
If you are flying down there on your own, it might be easier and cheaper to go to Nashville, where there is a good number of flights and drive down, or Birmingham and drive up.

So has the shift taken place and are the new teams now part of the WCHA and the old ones gone officially? Are we going to see some announcements soon on how things are going to happen going forward.

Existing refs allegedly to decide which conference they're going with by the end of the month. That's about the only part of that 'Rumors from out West' post that seems plausible to me.

us? fly? we even drive to Barbados. :)

wandering our way home, wishing the snow would melt.

I don't see NMU wanting to do this because they seem to hate spending the money to fly anywhere...at least that's the perception NMU fans give on here and I'm not sure eastern teams would want to travel from Duluth to Houghton or vice versa in a weekend.
No, we just hate playing teams where winning would hurt our PWR.

Shirtless/Flashy must've forgotten to copy the Twitter post over. Indiana Ice defenseman Matt Roy has committed to Tech. Based on his age, I'm guessing he arrives in 2015.

Shirtless, do you have any information on the type of player mr roy is?

I'm not sure what kind of player Roy is but he did well enough at Victory Honda (MM) as an 18yo that Indiana brought him up. He's a Michigan kid who played with Trevor Cope on Victory Honda in for a year or two before Cope left for BCHL. This year he put up 12-21-33 in 40 games including 10 goals not on the PP. Thats a pretty good line for MM on the blueline. We'll see more as he develops in the USHL but all the signs point to a solid player who probably didn't need a big scholarship offer being in-state. As for pronunciation, we'll see...still working on that info.

The University of Connecticut is getting a new Husky logo in the fall. The lovable, friendly husky logo is being replaced with an "I-might-bite-you" husky:

The rationale behind the change is to standardize on one logo: A New Husky for a New Era.

Curiously, the alumni comments I've read have all been negative with my favorite being this one: "I liked the old Husky dog much more! This one is mean looking like a wolf! I thought our state was trying to get away from violence after Newtown why make a mean looking logo? Poor decision!!!"

NIU has the best Husky logo IMHO, however, I'm leaning in favor of a paw print logo to replace Piano Dog...

Victory Honda is based here in my home town and I'm very glad to see that we are getting players, not just from them, but from other teams in that league. They are some of the best players in the state if you ask me. Hopefully it continues .
So he's a puck moving, offensive Defenseman?

Anything but toothless piano dog!

Damon Whitten is a finalist for the Head Coaching position at Alaska-Anchorage...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason I - New teams, new scoreboard, new goals... bring it on!

Would definitely be sad to see him go, but would this solve some issues with shields?

It might, if Steve is interested in sticking around at least a few more years. Honestly, looking at that list of candidates, I think Damon might get this job. He will obviously have a lot more recruiting contacts in Western Canada than the AFA guy.
