Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

So according to the Tech news feed, we have a new Zamboni for 2014-15. Photos anyone?

As for Elmira, let's hope Robinson lasts longer there than Teslak did. Got lured away from his senior season with the promise of a bright future in pro hockey and two seasons later his career was over without so much as a sniff of the NHL. Glad to see Russel get another head coaching job. It will be interesting to see how he does with the pro dynamic vs the college game.

Ryan J
It looks like Dallas wasn't interested in resigning Josh and it would appear that a 2 way AHL-ECHL deal wasn't available to him. I would take an educated guess that he will at least get a skate in camp with Elmira's AHL affiliate, Rochester.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

With a good season, Blake Pietila might be the first player since Colin Murphy to join the Century Club - he's got 24 points to go. With a great season Tanner Kero would be in striking distance as well, at 35 points.

David Johnstone is only 22 points away...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Shouldn't David Johnstone have an A as well. No issue with the selections, but DJ seems slighted.

I think the Huskies will be very entertaining this year.

I'm sorry for all the naysayers, but I think the MacNaughton is coming home this season.....

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

DJ never stuck me as a leader.

McNaughton is in striking distance, but with Ferris, Mankato, and Bowling Green in the mix, it's a crapshoot.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

You can throw NMU into that mix as well. Mankato is probably the favorite.

Anchorage will be interesting as well. Got a little momentum going last year, and have several good players back. But I'd still vote Kato, Ferris, and Tech top 3

It will be interesting to see if UAA can follow it up. There certainly is potential there. Five teams finished between 30 & 27 points last year and it could be a very tight bunch again this year.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Any one know if this is accurate

E. Anderson Center
M. Blacklock Center
A. Gillies Left Wing
Joel L' Esperance Right Wing
Dylan Steman Left Wing

How do Vallis, Heinonen, Gould, Baltus, Hietila, and P. Anderson compare to the freshman.

I think Heinonen, Vallis, and Gould are going to be right there competing with the freshman to be every day players.

Why are you not including Hietala? He was tied for 4th in goals last year.

Steman played Center each of the last 2 years here in Cedar Rapids. Don't think I ever saw him on the wing.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Hietila has made the most of his ice time. However, I have seen him on numerous occasions and with the talent coming in, he is dropping on the depth chart.

So you've got a full scouting report and analysis on all the talent coming in as well? And you aren't counting on Hietala to work hard in the offseason and take another step?

Classes and captain's practices haven't even started yet, it is way too early to be speculating who is where on the depth chart come October.

I see there being about 9 players that if healthy should be playing every game:
David Johnstone, C.J. Eick, Alex Gillies
Tanner Kero, Blake Pietila, Mike Neville
Alex Petan, Reid Sturos, Joel L'Esperance

After that I think its a pretty big crapshoot as to who else sees playing time at this point.
