Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say
team picnic went off in fine fashion last night. warm and sunny. good food. guys seem pretty pumped up. freshman seemed shy (as always). Mel thinks he is fielding his best team since being here and all are expecting to make some noise this season. players got up one by one and then had to introduce another player, number position, hometown, major. good team building. was surprised at the variety of different majors. remember when it was all business and one guy in engineering? we've got a psych major, several different engineers, construction management, business, sports and rehab (or whatever that new major is called) and a couple more. was pleasantly surprised by new assistant Joe. coming from Northern I expected him to be knuckldragging, unibrow, illiterate, low forehead, etc. he's friendly, outgoing, talkative and when I dished a bit at him about taking nice things from Northern he dished back. I liked him. he's especially eager to get in and start working with the goal tenders. Billy was a bit in the dumps as he had just lost a big recruit. Mel responded that we were going to find a better player who WANTS to be a Mi Tech. All in all a good time
Next event : Meet The Coaches Thursday October 2, 7 pm in the Begg Conference Center. don't feel shy about attending this event. there are usually quite a few people and the coaches talk and then you can tour the locker room, press box, weight rooms, etc. its very laid back, you can ask questions or sit quietly in the corner. sometimes I worry the casual fan doesn't go to these events, thinking they are for "insiders". that is not the case at all. please attend!!
