Michigan Tech Coach Search, Part II: Only We Would Need a Second Thread

Re: Michigan Tech Coach Search, Part II: Only We Would Need a Second Thread

Well if nobody wants to relocate here in the land of warm fresh pasties, there is always PLAN B and that is for Suzanne to use her alumni: Brian Hannon (head coaching experience), Mark Maroste (assistant coach experience), Randy McKay (no head coaching experience), and Tiger Pierce (goalie coach).
Technically, if Tech can prove that we can't find a qualified American to take the job, we could hire a Canadian. Houghton would seem like a garden spot compared to most cities in the Great White North.

He was met in St. Paul. There was an offer to visit because they got close to an agreement, but then he pulled back. He has been to Houghton numerous times over the past 30 years, and was well aware of what the school offered and didn't offer.

Word is he was looking at the possibility of a coach-in-waiting situation, where his top assistant would be the next coach when he retired. There was an issue over the length and amount of funding it would take to get that done.

If that is correct, and I do think it's a very plausible scenario, it shows the thought that funding was not to be an issue to be false.

Did anyone honestly believe that the sky was the limit when it came to money? The indication was that money would be much LESS of an issue this time around, NOT that it would be a non-issue.

Then use the darn money make something out of MTU hockey program. Make the $$$ into wins. Forget the Big 10 hockey.

Use the GLI and WCHA playoff money too.

Instead of using it on hookers and blow? Not bloody likely.

This thread, more specifically, certain posters in this thread make me want to throw my laptop. The stupidity is astounding.

Hence his current UNO situation, which is why the urban legend of an out-clause to MN makes some of us laugh hysterically.
