Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

Fox-UP is televising both Tech/NMU games. Good exposure, but hopefully attendance numbers are still good.

Ahh, the old "Dollar Bill Wirtz" marketing plan. Because keeping a product away from your fan base sure helped the Blackhawks for over 20 years...

I'll give you a hint, (barring weather) if they don't show up to the game, they weren't coming anyway. It's great marketing for the two schools, and with the cable/satellite/and antenna reach of TV6, it may help draw interest to either school, which could turn into new tickets sold.

It's not going to hurt the universities by doing this, and it's something that I wish WNMU-TV had tried over a decade ago.

May this experiment turn into a much larger and more successful endeavor in getting Division 1 hockey airtime in the UP.

I know I'll try to slingbox it. Curious to see if that is better than A1.

I agree exposure is good, maybe I'm thinking too much from my viewpoint, but if I lived in the UP, that might be a good night to stay home if I had 200" of snow outside and a kid to get ready to go. Staying in and watching sure seems warmer and easier than heading to the rink.

Blasphemy. If 200'' of snow is an issue for you getting ready to go anywhere, you're not going to function well in the Keweenaw. This isn't Atlanta :D I don't think my parents ever missed a hockey game due to weather even with the 3 kids to get ready.

agreed. i don't think i've ever heard of a fan not going to a game due to weather. especially in the Keweenaw. take it from someone who grew up there.

GAME DAY!
It may be Valentines Day, but I am in favor of showing Alaska no love in our building. All the months of off-season dry land work, the hours in the weight room, all those days avoiding the injury prone treadmill, the skating, the drills, the chalk-talk in the locker room, the prep work, the film sessions, scrimmages, the bumps, the bruises, the long bus rides to play the best possible non-conference teams, the sweat and blood. It all pays off this weekend. Remember - The team did it all to make sure we would beat the Nanookies.

It's amazing how much 2 successful weekends can do to the outlook on this team. I knew this team could go on a run, I just wasn't sure they'd be able to get over that hump. They have, with an impressive sweep at Bowling Green and a rather expected sweep of UAH. I don't think anyone thought they'd score 14 goals at Carnival. If the confidence they've built over the last 2 weeks translates into a more potent offense, they should be going for the throat this weekend. Two more wins this weekend and a 6-game streak would put them solidly in a spot for home ice. This weekend is big to continue that push.

To tell you the truth after the egg they laid against Ferris State on Saturday I thought they were done. They impressed me again at BGSU. It's obvious that every weekend is big and I look forward to watching them.

Just kidding! We don't really want home ice, we just want to be the same old lovable losers.

Re: Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

A night to forget. It would've been worse, but Pheonix had some nice saves early.

Mel's postgame interview, it took him a long time to get up to Dirk:
They had the jump, they left Fairbanks Monday, they were aclamated and had jumpe
We didn't, credit to Pheonix, heck of a 1st, bottom line we weren't very good tonight
They have quickness/speed, determination, some physical, but a lot is mental, they played desperate
We did not respond well, thought when it was 3-2, they got two goals fast, but we just werne't good enough to come back from that
Can't tell you their PP formations, only took 13 and 18 seconds to score on their PP, we just did not do good job along boards, 1 one 1 battles
Tomorrows game, there's a lot on the line, we'll find otu what kind of team we are
Put Phillips in, we needed a change, in case Pheonix goes tomorrow, or wanted to see how Jamie played, want both goalies available for tomorrow
Can go through locker room, not many guys that had a strong game, Blake P did play strong/hard, Kero skated well, had a few great opportunities, Petan nice plays, but we need everyone
No question there will be line changes, we need to be better, hard to challenge team though and not give a player to come out and have a better game, we'll see
Told our team, tough night, but we have another shot tomorrow, we'll be ready

Re: Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

That was a butt kickin of the highest order. We are not playing uah this week. will be a real tough game tomorrow and we better be ready.

Re: Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

Must win tonight, regroup and go kick their butt!!!!!!!

Re: Michigan Tech 2013-2014: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Realignment

Looked at the score this morning. What the **** was THAT?

That was a team sh*tting itself. Frankly, even if they end up getting home ice, I'm not sure that they will know what to do it (cue MNS joke here).
