I mean really, 41-16 on the shots? Disappointing, lame, ugh. What a "Top 3" WCHA offense. Reminds me of '10-'11, without the hype.

More of that bullsh*t, and we'll start 0-4. Book it.

I'll always be a Tech fan, but this is why I can't justify spending so **** much money traveling and watching them. I need to get some kind of payback from it. I'm now on the 1 or 2 series a year schedule. Wish they made me want to watch them more.

Disapointing game, need more shots than that. I saw some dumb penalties too. Dirk questioning the 16 shots, thought Tech had more than that.

Also in pregame, dirk said Davis is out with an upper body injury, I think he said for a substatial amount of time.

Also, shout out to THG! Thanks for tweeting updates now that MTUHKY twitter didn't show up tonight.

Mel's postgame interview:
We were ready to go, good 1st period, both sides had a few good scoring chances
Once UMD scored, they got momentum and were better team most of 2nd, trouble clearing zond and handling puck
Defense jumped up at bad times, odd man rushes the other way, they've got good speed
Copley real nice job, Dmen nice job on 2x1s, need to limit scoring chances
We had Grade A chances, soem of them, missed net, UMD didn't have to make save
Some good things, never happy when you don't get results you want, very correctable things we didnt' do well
Want D to join in offense, but sometims in 1s,t they jumped in too often, need to read that better
Kero, Petan, Pietila, they have to understand who they're playing, it'll be difficult, defense first, can't be too fancy, back to basics
Gould his speed and quickness better, so out there more
Not sure on tomorrow's goalie, Pheonix heck of game, would like 2nd one back, we'll talk about it as a staff, not afraid to throw Jamie in
PP - early in the year, had good chances, didn't burry, need puck retrival, stood still
We'll talk about this, watch ome tape and have to put it behind us
Shout out to Jimmy Davis - all the guys are thinking about him, Jimmy had surgery on his wrist today, he'll heal fast and be back soon
Leibinger did come up limping once, we hope he's okay, if not we'll put someone else in there
Liked our energy, effort, but we can be better

You know at first it was tough losing after getting the tie and the momentum, but really there was a lot of things that indicate a good year.So let's not all jump off a cliff just yet. After all you could be a lowell fan and lose to sacred heart, or a uno fan and lose to Bentley or a minnesota state fan and lose 5-1 to an average team. We knew this would be tough, and we are competitive.

I have a feeling Providence would put 5 on UMD too. I would expect them to be a tournament team this year.

Wow, what a frustrating PP. 0% Still don't get the shootout, but I guess they felt htey needed practice after not scoring and giving up two shootout goals.

I don't think we can downplay the goalies this weekend. Both were good, it'll be interesting with Mel's want to go with a single golie eventually. Can we get Shields back, he sure didn't hurt them?

Don't only 2 extras travel with the team? So am I right in thinking that during a normal weekend when it's 1 extra forward and 1 defensemen, Mel couldn't have sat B. Pietila because we would've used our extra forward to replace D. Johnstone but we traveled 2 forwards because we have no extra Dmen?


Mel's postgame interview:
We got better as game progressed
Happy with conditioning, able to roll 4 lines, couldn't be prouder of young men
Great job, without 2 of better players and 3 defensemen, it's not about players not playingk, it's about who put the jerseys on
Not many guys that didn't have a good game, most everyone had a good game
We outworked duluth in corners, credit to young defensemen, wont see too many teams with speed like UMD
played a grittier and stronger game
credit to Shelast with conditioning, we played strong with the puck
We did a better job forechecking, smarter all around game when to pinch etc
A litte snake bit, need to score more goals
Feels like Dirk, we deserved to win, territory, shots, etc we were better team
Goalies - a good problem to have, Jamie made some key saves, Copley heck of a game last night, Jamie's worked hard, good for him tonight
Shoout is prety exciting, Heinonen, he's a goal scorer, he's in homestate of MN, easy to pick him
Petan was 3rd shooter,
Now on to much tougher building next weekend, road games are good, have to find otu how to play on road agaisnt a good hockey team
Kero backchecking excellent, he laid it on the line tonight, he did a fantastic job, he's got a chance to be a very good player, we'll keep pushing him
It's a tie, but feels like a win in many ways, they may have deserved more, but a good weekend of hockey, have one area to work on (PP), wil talk about it on Mel P show Monday
Shoot out - when you win it you love it, it's exciting for fans, we're in entertainment business, it's hard to loose them, take concept of team sport down toa few individuals
Mel's okay with it, but woudl go with majority either way

As I said, Ciskie is the Jack Edwards of NCAA hockey, except that all of Duluth's opponents are the Montreal Canadiens. ;)

Notre Dame blanked Western in both games this weekend, 4-0 at Compton, 3-0 at Lawson. :eek: Gonna be a huge series for Tech.

I know Jack Edwards by reputation only. I have no interest in watching Bruins games, except to watch playoff hockey, and if its playoffs it is national broadcasters.

The play-by-play guy, that I have listened to and grown to hate, just like everyone else who has listened to him, that he reminds me of most is the massive pile of human feces that goes by the name: Hawk Harrelson

Great game by the Huskies and I think they were just unlucky not to win.
Next weekend will be real tough. Glad they sat Pietila he does take undisciplined penalties almost every game.

Notre Dame is much like Providence, very defensive and the game can get away from easily.

Anyone going to South Bend on Sunday? Just bought my SRO ticket. Gonna be a long day, hopefully with a W to make the drive back easier. ;)

the huskyfans and the MacDs will be in South Bend.

unfortunately the mister had an abcessed tooth and we spent Saturday in the Duluth ER instead of at the game. :(

If I understand the rules correctly Pietila got a game misconduct Friday night so was not eligible to play Saturday.

I don't think Mel sat him by choice; you don't sit one of your best players because he plays with a little too much grit. The last thing you want is for him to soften up; IMO.
