Michigan State vs. Ferris State 2/19-2/20

Re: Michigan State vs. Ferris State 2/19-2/20

Hey, at least we've seen the inside of the NCAA tournament in the last 20 years. :p

I'm curious as to just how many MSU fans grabbed tickets for tonight's game.

From what I've read - between alums, blueline club, parents and other family, student section and the like - there looks to be quite a bunch of Spartan green to bust up the white-out tonight.

Re: Michigan State vs. Ferris State 2/19-2/20

And yet it's still better than that middle school cafeteria you call an arena in Bowling Green. Have you painted that ****hole since 1985?

Hey I think that place has character, the Scott Hamilton banner really ties the room together.

Re: Michigan State vs. Ferris State 2/19-2/20

Gee, thanks. Now I have to wipe the hot chocolate off the keyboard. :p

Oh, hey, MSU fans trekking to Big Rapids tonight: Wear green.

Let's try our darndest to disrupt this apparent whiteout tonight.

I'll be wearing the 2nd sweater, though with trepidation. Spartans are 0-for-last-5 when I do that.

Shoot - maybe I should just stay home and B2.

New topic:
What's the Ferris State health barometer say?

Their captain Chupp was out for the final game last weekend. Didn't hear a whole lot about that so it must not be too serious. Wietecha, one of their better defensemen, has been out for, yeesh, several weeks now. At least 3 or 4 weeks. I don't know if it has ever been made publicly known what exactly is wrong with him, but there was a rumor that it was a concussion. I think that him being out has hurt quite a bit, if you want my honest opinion. But for the most part, the team is pretty healthy.

If anybody else knows anything, feel free to correct me or add additional thoughts. I'm just speaking off of what I have heard and have seen.

Re: Michigan State vs. Ferris State 2/19-2/20

I am glad to see Ferris finally be real competitive again as I have always kinda liked them after i attended their week long youth hockey camp a few times back in my younger days. First time was before the place was renovated and at least one time afterwards. Do they still sell Slush Puppies? Those were the hot ticket for us kids back then after our skates.

But i remember coach Daniels giving us a tour of the locker room and facilities as well as a nice talk. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. It was right about the time Kunitz left. I think it was the summer afterwards becuase his locker was still there and it had Anaheim gloves sitting in it.

Still, my hope is that Ferris gets 0 points this weekend.

"WHITE"out???? *scratches head*

Really you guys... you shouldn't have. That's really sweet of you. With enough of a smattering of green in there we'll feel right at home.

I thought your colors were maize and maroon. Now I know the maizeout is pretty lame, but I think a maroonout could be something really special.

I got to Big Rapids an hour who and I have seen no fewer than 20 Spartan fans...too bad they are Spartans which means they will likely air on their hands and.not cheer for the team I'm green.

autocorrect fail =)

they'll cheer... they're either not from around here or they drove there special. Methinks traveling fans are generally rowdier.

Rocking the B2 feed on in all it's 42" LCD 1080p glory (with the UM/WM game pip in the corner).

Plate full of wings and some waffle fries. Life is good =)

You just got a shout out on the FSU broadcast for what it's worth.

Thanks for the shoutout.

I'm not going to say much about biased homer radio announcers. The shot total speaks for itself like you said. But... But... if you have to continually ask for an explanation of how penalties work, then maybe you ought to not be questioning the officiating. I'm just say'n... ya know? All I have is a grainy feed to go by, but I'm not seeing much along the lines of blatant blown calls. If anything, if they called MSU on a couple of them they could have gotten FSU for embellishment.

But you did give us a chuckle here when you described the venue as a "creative (or was it interesting) use of space." It's a large utility shed with an ice rink in it. I think that the Spartans are being hampered by claustrophobia. :)

And as for your special music montage you are planning for tomorrow night's broadcast, I really hope you've jumped the gun on that. The hockey Gods can frown on that sort of thing. We came back from ugly hockey and a 3 goal deficit in a single period a few weeks ago. I'm hoping we can do it again.

Hoping in one hand you know.

So if he asks a question on one, maybe two calls he doesn't know what penalties are anymore? Does that even make sense? He also did not say one negative thing about the refs or the linesmen last night, and if I remember correctly...during my drive home in the post game, he was complimenting what a great job the refs/lines did that game.

Luckily I caught this one too...wasn't that his color guy who said it? Not Dom? Get your facts straight.

Hockey gods can frown on that? Are you sure you didn't have marijuana with those wings and waffle fries?

He didn't understand why somethings were a penalty, and some weren't. He didn't understand why sometimes it was icing, and sometimes it wasn't. I wasn't being extremely critical of the guy, it just sounded like he was kinda new to the whole hockey thing.

I don't care which one it was =) I was referring to the broadcast in general.

Yes, the hockey gods frown on that sort of thing. It's the equivalent of chanting warm up the bus at the start of the third instead of the final minutes.

I wasn't trying to start a brawl here.

He never questioned an icing, don't make stuff up. Maybe it would help you to know our broadcaster played hockey his whole life, and called junior A hockey in the north american league for the Santa Fe Roadrunners, before he started calling Division 1 hockey this year.

He is not new to hockey. He almost has too much knowledge about the sport. When he starts talking 2-1-2's, and faceoffs having an offensive player come off the boards to shoot and all that, he loses me.

MSU fans - I Need help:

Need a good place to eat after the game, up to a dozen people, one being only 13, plus a mixture of MSU and Ferris fans (family, you know).

Any ideas? Thanks.
