Michigan State Hockey 202?-202?

Do you know what wasn't on my MSU hockey bingo card? Adam Nightingale being really good at recruiting kids from central and eastern Europe. (Pretty sure he has a commitment from a Ukranian kid, too.)

Well, it has been a whole recruiting level or two since I was able to figure out the login maze. Howz by you, humans?

Wow! Welcome back! At some point in the past, I got it to remember my password so anytime it needs a login it just auto fills. I have no idea what the password is.

Thanks! I can (practically) vouch that USCHO's user control was either non-operational or unpersoned for quite some time. It seems operational and personed again :D. Sucked having an account linked to an email address I no longer have.

Quite a thrilling off-season, at least on paper. The paper hasn't held such lofty promise since Ron Mason's last couple years perhaps. The floodgates seem open.

A year ago I never imagined I would be saying this, but I’ll be disappointed if we aren’t a top 10 team this year. This is a far more talented team than last year or any time since our last NCAA championship.

Young teams are weird. You can win with youth at this level, but it's really hard. It's probably going to be harder with two freshman goaltenders. Also, our league is brutal.

That said, this is already the most talent on any MSU team since, what, 2008?

I'm thinking 20 wins with a first-round playoff series at Munn and a tournament appearance.

I usually think about how many stacked Michigan teams full of NHL underclassmen we watch look dead in the water around the holidays only to turn into a force by March. I am hoping we at least follow a similar trajectory but popping right off the bat would obviously be great. All of this talent will at least be fresh and fun to watch from the start.

From the results of the WJC Summer Showcase, I would guess that, at a minimum, 3 Spartans may be representing their countries this December. Rare and perhaps refreshing as an MSU fan to see that. It was 3 coaches ago when MSU sent 4.
