Michigan State 2024-25

Pretty amazing winter for MSU! Hockey and Basketball winning the B1G and all. I can’t recall a time when both teams were so fun to watch at the same time. 2000? I was too young to think about it much, then.

Hockey and (Mens) hoops won respective titles (CCHA/Big Ten) on same day March 11th 1990!

They always say in basketball that its hard to beat the same team 3 times. I guess we are going to find out if that is true in hockey for 5 times. Jeff Jackson isn't done tormenting us yet.

The last 2 years, with the addition of the new league tournament format, have been the most exciting and successful 2 year run in decades. Two OT league championship games along with a whole ocean of wins, I’m not sure Munn has ever had it better. Some NCAA tournament success here would really ice it for me but even if we get dropped in the first weekend here, I’ll really cherish this team for a very long time. So long in the wilderness…just 3 short years later and here we are.

Amen!

Been watching/following this program for roughly 4 decades (Young fan>Student>Old fart alum) and I can honestly say this is my favorite MSU team ever! And that includes the juggernauts of The 80's, 90's and magical run team of 2007!.........a Natty would be icing on the cake but these last 3 seasons have been fun to watch no doubt and can not remember a time when Munn was as loud as its been the last 2 weeks!

One aspect I like about this team is that they follow the old Herb Brooks mantra of "play your game". They don't get flustered if things aren't going well.

With memories of 1998 (regional loss at Yost after beating them in CCHA) I'm not that fond of a potential rematch with OSU in the regional final.

Trey Augustine is returning for next season. That is an unexpected move but I suppose he is still young by NHL standards.

Lots of new faces next season, but MSU looks to be reloading, not rebuilding. Expect 10 new players to hit the ice for MSU. 6 forwards (with an expected Howard turning pro), 3 defensemen, and 1 goalie.

Incoming: Melvin Strahl (goalie). At defense Tyson Jugnauth and probably Colin Ralph and Matt Lahey (with Travis Shoudy a possibilty). Forwards Cayden Lindstrom, Ryker Lee, Austin Baker and probably 3 of Savin Virk, Max Heise, and 1 or 2 from CHL or portal.

Now Isaac Howard returning. From 2 NHL draft picks a few years ago... to potentially 15 NHL draft picks next year. What a crazy good job this staff has done.
