Michigan State 2009-2010

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Any word on Petry and/or Rowe for tonight?

Didn't see anything for sure, but in Neil Koepke's piece this morning nothing was mentioned about injuries/illness. I hope to conclude from that they are playing.

On a related note, I wonder if the Everbody's dancer is back in the game.

Well he is a regular here...I'm sure we will find out. I would just settle for having the band back. I dont mind Tunesby T, but the speakers at Munn are 15 years old and are WAY too loud!

After catching a 2-month-old Denver/SCSU game at Magness Arena on DVR, I'm happy with what we've got. :D

The Alumni band will be on hand tonight - at least. Don't know about tomorrow night.

So the basketball team gets the regular guys but we are stuck with the old ladies with flutes? Dont get me wrong, I love the old ladies with flutes...but this is a hockey game!

****, I'm fired up!! I am excited for this series.

Will they bring a percussionist with them this time?

Oh, and a new sound system at Munn is a must within the next couple of years. It probably won't help much, given the craptastic acoustics, but it still needs to be done.

It'll have to be by cowbell.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I'm headed over to Munn right now...from my drive by about 5 minutes ago it looks pretty barren for 30 minutes before puck drop. Here's to a 3 point night!

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Did anyone note the absolutely sweet puck handling by Gazley near LSSU's net tonight? I thought for sure the one that put him in point-blank range would earn him a goal.
Nice PK, but at times we seemed to take whole chunks of time off - I believe our guys may have been surprised at just how good Lake State has become. After we had those good chances a couple minutes into the game, LSSU's forecheck got us on our heals.
MSU settled down the rest of the way, but it was nerve-wracking to see all those turnovers late in the game.
It was a relief to see them go to the penalty box a goal <strike>ahead</strike> behind :) and with 2 minutes to play.

That was a tough, gritty win tonight. LSSU is a big, strong team and they can be hard to knock off the puck sometimes. We did a pretty good job of creating scoring opportunities and it wouldn't have been such a nail biter if Mahoney Wilson didn't make that incredible save on Leveille with about 5 minutes left.

Attendance was not great but i think it would have been pretty decent if the students were on campus. Oh well.

We're definitely going to have to earn our 6 points.

No doubt - and to do that I think we really have to ramp up the the intensity or Lake Superior will have us for early supper. Looked to me like we got outhustled along the boards. Outhit and beat around the edges too.

How prophetic of you. Wish it weren't so :(

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

What a pathetic, dismal first period ... and then we got some life with a couple minutes left. I think State controlled about 80% of the rest of the game. Stop the **** turnovers though.
This was a good series for us to start with. It shows us that we can take nobody on our schedule lightly and have to play better than we ever have to stay near the top.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Well that was a hell of a series. The first period was pretty disappointing but we came out on top and then i thought the second period was likely our best of the entire weekend. With the way the first period turned out, I joked to the couple next to us that with how well we are playing, LSSU will probably get the only goal of the period. Then, surely enough about 45 seconds later, bam.

LSSU must have had 3 shorthanded breakaways that game. Probably why our PP in overtime was so tentative. But that OT flurry was amazing.

It is pretty disappointing to be on the cusp of a shootout win for the third time in a row and still for the third time in a row, see their last shooter score and then we lose in extra rounds. We gotta mix it up sometime and shoot second or something because this isn't working. Lerg needs to come in and teach Palmy a thing or two about shootouts...

Have Schepke and Kivisto come hold a clinic for the shooters too because man, our shootouts are not working.

Krug's goal was beautiful and timely.

Overall, pretty exciting weekend. Now let's hope ND drops ferris.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I thought tonights game was the most exciting of the season.

So many times either team could have won it. Very physical and lots of ego showing.

Definitly cant be giving up all the shorthanded breakaways though

At least 2 were against the Petry/Krugg pair.

Too bad most of the students missed it. Would have been even more energy
