Michigan Hockey...

great win over a very very good team going for a repeat. i dont think theyll be easy to handle tomorrow though

the big keys on the game:
Faceoffs were 41-17
2nd period they dominated, WMU with 3 shots only, helped by those power plays
Ivankovic was great
The shot volume for the broncos was high but it didnt feel like too many of them were super dangerous

Thursday night games are dumb. My kid chose girl scouts over hockey tonight, my husband struggles to get home from work early enough for 7 pm games. he's taking the kid to girl scouts and i'm going to the game by myself but feeling guilty. #2 at #3 (polls don't matter, especially this early) is hard for me to not go, but now I'm second guessing ditching the family for hockey.

Should be a good test. Providence on the road was a great weekend. Defending National Champ coming to our barn will be rough. Ferris snuck in a 3-2 win at Western to start the season, but WMU looks solid this year.
The former parasite chose girl scouts over hockey? Haven't you gotten her hockey skates yet?? Come on mom!
Lol, you know I'm just kidding you. I'm glad you got to the game, I watched it on BTN, that first goal was amazing. My cousin in Northville drove 5 hours back from the UP to get home just in time to watch it, I think being a Western alum he was a bit disappointed.

Great game last night. Solid D, I enjoyed watching the team celebrate Ivankovic when they put up that it was the most saves so far for him. It's thrilling to have a solid goalie, that looks to have the potential to steal games, though if this offense keeps rolling, maybe he won't have to. Still, super early in the season, so trying to not get too excited

Of course the parasite has hockey skates, but her cheap mother doesn't want to pay for hockey, we just go play on the pond when frozen and have worked on our goal celly. She loves Girl Scouts and getting to do fun activities with other 1st graders

How about forming a girl scout hockey team? ❤️
First grade? It's hard to believe that much time has passed! 😳

Hopefully the team learns what it will take to play a great team at home last night. That's one of the toughest places to play... It's going to take a lot to win at EL.

Brutal news- Henry Mews is out for the season after that hit in the 1st on saturday
oh no. wishing him the best as he recovers.
I had been enjoying the "Hughes from Mews" goal announcements. He had so much impact on this team already.

Wisconsin this week. They have improved from recent seasons. Should be another good test as to how good this Michigan team is.

gonna be a beautiful goaltending matchup from two of the top goalies from the CHL- Daniel Hauser has the record for all time wins in the WHL. he’s been spectacular for them, like how Ivankovic has been for Michigan.

Fun win, but we sure spent a lot of time chasing the puck in our zone... Almost as if the line mix ups has really changed what was the #1 scoring D in the country. But while that dropped off, our 5-5 offense showed up. They sure don't need much offensive zone time to get those shots off.

And really loved Horcroft's goal, where he jumped for the puck, made a move, and shot it under the goalie's arm. The W goalie looked really bummed about that goal.

BTW, any idea why Wisconsin challenged the first goal? Seemed like really long odds for something, which may have really affected the end of the game since they didn't have a TO.

Left early as that was bad. But it was pretty clear that those line combs don't work. At times they looked like a squirt team following the puck around.

we left after 2nd intermission. With all the reviews we were 2 hours in at the start of 2nd intermission.

I know that Michigan fans love to complain about officiating, so I will continue that.....omg was that officiating terrible. If you have a video to look at, why does it take that long to make a decision?
Also, even before the 3rd period shenanigans that was an absurd amount of penalties (for both teams). If all hockey games got called that way, I would stop watching hockey.

Time to put that game and this weekend behind us. A split against a good team is still an ok result.

That was a very nice weekend of hockey. The only time we looked questionable was the beginning of the 1st and 2nd on Friday- other than that, they were pretty sharp. And tonight, geez.
