They do not even believe in themselves this weekend.

You have to understand most guys on there are extremely uneducated about hockey, and most Miami fans jump ship at the sign of distress. They blame the coach without understanding the logistics of the game. There have been times in January when Miami has stumbled and people complain but then come march when Miami makes their run like they have the last 5 years they are all back on the bandwagon. People who haven't played at a high level don't understand how a long lay off like Miami had affects not only them but any team far more than they would think. I for one am not worried about what happened last weekend because honestly I saw it coming. But this team is far too talented and has proven it this season so far.

IMO, there is no way Miami gets swept this weekend. Ferris is for real and legit but Miami has been battle tested all year and will be ready to play. I expect two close tight checking games but a split is more likely than anything. I don't see either team sweeping, just like neither did in oxford.

Re: Miami at Ferris State - 1/15 - 1/16 - Yes, this is a real thread.

This series will be interesting for "other" team fans in the CCHA. I think there will be a split, but that's my homer honest opinion.

What kind of Cool-Aid is Ferris St. drinking this year? Please pass some of the good stuff to the sandbox. Thanks.

LETS GO CATS!!!!

Re: Miami at Ferris State - 1/15 - 1/16 - Yes, this is a real thread.

After the past few years, it's all too easy for some Miami fans to fear what has become known as the post-break "swoon" and to worry about this series, particularly after the Robert Morris games. However, after such a harsh reality check last week, any lingering holiday hangover should be fully dealt with. As has already been stated, there is no way either team is overlooking the importance of this series. For Miami, in addition to the battle for the CCHA lead, they have the RMU losses and our recent less-than-stellar record against Ferris to light a fire under them. That prediction thread might show a lack of confidence among some fans, but all that matters is the team, and I'm confident they're going to pull into Big Rapids ready to roll. Hoping for two outstanding games and will be plenty happy with a split.

Go RedHawks!!!

Very true, well put. It comes down to their are just a lot of negative nancies around. I think its part of living in Ohio since in the state the success of our sports teams have been rather pitifull. People find any little things to bi tch and moan about. Miami sweeps Ferris ( which I dont think will happen but hypothetical ) all of those jackals who were negative this week will be signing the team and coaches praise again. Its frustrating at times to listen to some of these clowns but it is what it is. Those who get it and have been there understand and most others blow hot air...

Most people have taken to heart what happened this past weekend, which was a bad one for Miami/Bengals supporters. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all losses. But you have to keep in mind, we have lost 1 single game in CCHA play this season. Uno. That single loss was in overtime to Michigan State as well. You can't take those predictions to the bank in regards to most of the long time fans, or the team for that matter.

Re: Miami at Ferris State - 1/15 - 1/16 - Yes, this is a real thread.

I am truly looking forward to this weekend to see how Miami responds to last week's stumble. This weekend will go a long way towards the conference crown. still plenty of hockey to play after, but a step up at this point always helps. I really think that, based on the past history, we're going to see two great games between two very similar teams. This is going to be exciting!

In regards to the bandwagon fans, I dont get it. Miami's trend the past few years has been to have a great first half, falter after the break, and right the ship in time to make the tourney. I think all of the Miami fans (on here at least) know Miami has the talent and system in place to go very deep in the postseason. we aren't too worried about a couple bumps in the road.

But before we get to that, we have a fantastic opportunity this weekend - both in CCHA and PWR.

Go Hawks!

Partial preview story from the Pioneer:

BIG RAPIDS — It’s probably safe to say the Ferris State hockey team hasn’t had a bigger regular-season series at Ewigleben Ice Arena since a guy named Chris Kunitz was still wearing crimson and gold.

No. 2 Miami, which slid in the polls from the top spot it’s held most of the season, enters Big Rapids for a Friday-Saturday series with the No. 6 Bulldogs, who currently hold their highest ranking of the season, with first place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association on the line.

Ferris State, which has more victories (16) than any team in the country, is 11-0 at home this season. However, the Bulldogs know the magnitude of the games they’re about to play.

“These games are more crucial than any other games we’ve played at home with what’s at stake with the national rankings and in the CCHA,” said senior forward Blair Riley, who leads the team with 16 goals. “If one team wins both games, it could really be in the driver’s seat.”

The series with the RedHawks is the middle of a three-week stretch that includes Notre Dame, Miami and Michigan. The Bulldogs swept Notre Dame in South Bend last weekend.

“This is an important series this weekend, but if we’re not careful we could get overly emotional. If things don’t go well, we’ve got to stay on task and not have a meltdown. That’s something we’ve talked to the players about,” Daniels said. “Beyond that, we’ve got to turnaround and get prepared for an emotional series against Michigan, and we just came off an emotional series against Notre Dame.

“We’ve got to find a way to find an even keel or we’re going to find ourselves exhausted by the stretch run.”

The RedHawks enter the series after having suffering a surprising non-conference sweep at the hands of Robert Morris (Pa.) last weekend. Add in the fact that Ferris State went into Miami’s building and tied the RedHawks twice before winning shootouts during a November series, it’s safe to assume that the RedHawks won’t be lacking motivation.

“They’re going to come in and bring their best game against us,” Riley said. “That’s another team that’s been very competitive with over the couple of years. ... They’re going to come in here looking to get an advantage and we’ve got to be up to the task.”

Said Daniels: “There is going to be some heartburn on the case of the Miami after losing two to Robert Morris, but it’s important to remember those were their first two games coming off a three-week holiday break, so they were off a little bit.”

Re: Miami at Ferris State - 1/15 - 1/16 - Yes, this is a real thread.

a team looking past an opponent because they have Ferris the following weekend...That is gold. It's like in '03 when Ferris was getting beat and the opposing fans started chanting OVERRATED. the Ferris players had a good laugh about that because they had never heard that one before.

Also, I would like Dom or someone with inside access to find out if the team hung the game pucks for the two shootout wins at Miami. They hang the game puck from every win in the middle of the locker room. I wonder if the team considers those games wins or ties.

The team hung the game pucks for the two shootout wins in Miami. Here is a picture of what FerrisFan1 is talking about in the Ferris State Hockey Locker Room: http://www.ferris.edu/sports/hockey/archives/ice/

After every win, the captain (Cody Chupp) tapes a puck and hangs it above the bulldog in the carpet in the locker room.

Well no disrespect but doesn't matter what the think. It only counts as a win in the CCHA standings, as far as the NCAA is concerned it was a tie and that is all that truly matters. The extra point was big in conference standings though and could be a big time difference maker down the stretch.

Very true it was a very rough weekend. Spot on about supporters, there are a lot of fairweather fans that don't understand the game or little things about teams and all that goes into a season. Funny thing is those same people will be signing praise in march and april when/if this team makes another run.

We're also dealing with the same thing with the Washington Capitals. there are a lot of people down on the Caps because of this latest downswing. they've traded away their captain, have been playing flat in the first period (leading to deep early deficits), etc. but anyone paying attention knows that they're assembling the last few pieces for a deep run for the Cup. we'll be fine as long as everyone remembers the Brotherhood's mantra "just get better everyday."

Re: Miami at Ferris State - 1/15 - 1/16 - Yes, this is a real thread.

Looking forward to watching this series, both teams have the tools to make a run in the NCAA's. The fire power to put up numbers, Riley Chupp, Redman for Ferris and Wingels, Camper Wideman for Miami. Both also are able to play solid team defense and have gotten great goaltending this year. I will interested to see which of the goalies steps up and shines each night. Ferris has the home ice and I think Miami is a little ticked off at their play last weekend, that looks like a split to me. Too bad it's not televised...internet feed will have to do.

told you the team believed and all the bandwagon folks would do a 180. Impressive weekend by Miami. Big road sweep on a national level and a conference level, they proved why the are one of the top teams in the country.
