MIAC Recruitng Classes and Pre-Season Picks

Re: MIAC Recruitng Classes and Pre-Season Picks

Puck - I am definitely confused. It sure looks to me like you are in the support of coach Delcostello by your post in September. Also, seems that you had high hopes for the Hamline team. Obviously you were dead wrong on both. I on the other hand picked Hamline to finish last in my september post. Yep Guess I am the guy that is confused.

Good for you Tommy! You still have your purple panties in a wad from the beginning of this thread. Just to clarify, I said "intersting team to watch". Not exactly and endorsement sir.....although you can read into what you want to. The discipline he apparently brought with him turned out to be at the opposite ned of the spectrum from Stefan. F-bombs don't go very far after a while, especially at the college level. In the end this team was interesting only in the fact by how far they have fallen. That is the real topic being discussed.

And yes, I hope too they will be around next year......so they can beat ST again! ;) Best of luck in the playoffs.

Relax Puck I see your points. Just curious, is the coach from HU in hot water for dropping some F bombs? Pretty sure every junior, college and some high school coaches do that. I certainly hope there is more too it. A 1 win season would seem like a far more important issue.

Re: MIAC Recruitng Classes and Pre-Season Picks

There is a lot more to it but I'm not going to get into it. Lets just say there's a reason this team had only one win this season. And it was not due to lack of talent as evidenced by their lone victory over the most talented team in the MIAC. There are some issues the Administration has to deal with now.

As for the playoffs, hopefully UST can get back on track and represent the MIAC like it should be. Good luck to ALL the remaining teams! But I think you're right about the Johnnies being the hot team. Mueller is a **** good coach.

Yeah this could be a big yr for SJU. I am still hoping ST can pull all that talent together for playoffs. The Hamline program looks like they r in complete shambles right now. I agree the coach makes the calls but, he does not play the game...1 win is a reflection on the players as well.

Re: MIAC Recruitng Classes and Pre-Season Picks

No doubt both players and coach share in the blame. But if I told you "I f-ing demand your respect!" Would you give it to me? Or would I have to earn it? I already know the answer LOL but you get my point?

If UST plays like they're capable of, they will go deep into playoffs again.

I'm not so sure on that. It may be worse than it seems but all college and junior and coaches r going to demand f-ing respect. I think all coaches, teachers, parents, elders etc. should have immediate respect. They earned it by the position they r in. U may not like or agree w them but, coaches should be respected on all levels. I agree the situation at Hamline may be different but, with what u r saying it doesn't seem different from many other programs. Looking at prior posts I do not believe this is the major issue with that team.

Re: MIAC Recruitng Classes and Pre-Season Picks

Initial respect as a coach yes, definitely. But let me be more clear, respect as an individual can be lost quickly by one's word's and more importantly, their actions. That's what makes it different. And I think that is evidenced by their poor record this season after being in the playoffs the prior two seasons. I'm curious, what do you think the major issue is?

I have heard the major issue lies within the athletic dept at HU. New AD has made some very poor decisions. Appointing the former basketball coach asst AD turned out to be a huge mistake. Hire of new hockey coach looks very questionable now as well.

A tough season for ST... They definitely underachieved. Right now it looks like SJU is the favorite and best hope for the MIAC to make the final 4. Bender and Factor u brought up some great points that the Hamline hockey program is in real trouble...Possibly extinction. I hope they can figure it out over there. Hamline has been a champion and playoff contender for the last 4 yrs. Sad to see how far it has dropped off in just a single season.

Extinction doubtful. Bottom dwellers more likely. DelCostello has been given a second chance. It's sad yes, that he brought with him the same cloud that got him run out of Fairbanks. Some guys don't learn from their mistakes due to ego. What is even more sad is that the Hamline Administration let go of all the progress that Scott Bell had worked so hard to build. Again egos got in the way.

Johnnies do appear to have some momentum but AG won't go down easily for sure.

Run Johnny run!!!

Good to see the young Soley have success in goal for the Johnnies..plenty of hockey has been played in that family!!

Tough draw for SJU at Eau Claire for the first round of playoffs. Last year GAC hosted MSOE and ST got an at large bid. We have a family friend who's kid plays for Hamline and they say there could be 10-12 possible transfers.

.....and some may just give it up, as the fun has been removed. Very unfortunate situation the HU Administration has put themselves in. Not sure Verdugo understands the full impact this could have next season.
