Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Hank is going to figure it out, and connect some more dots if/when Lydia winds up dead. He's already got Mike figured out, he just can't prove it yet. These connections are going to lead back to Walt somehow, or back to Jesse.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

Marie seemed quite astonished that Skylar doesn't hand mash. Why, this one time at the hospital...

Oh, and to stay on topic: If Walt does anything to Skylar, I'm guessing ricin. And Lydia's a loose end that needs to be taken care of. And I'm amazed at how little of a fuss we all (myself included) give about how much we hate pretty much every woman on the show. Even my (sometimes sensitive) wife thinks that way.

Well, we've had Walt take a longer than normal look at the Walt Whitman book, and Walt/Jr watching Scarface together (which maybe clues us to his purchase in the diner in the first ep of this season...), Mike wanting to kill Lydia, I'm going to assume Walt wants Skylar out of the picture somehow (too much risk, plus he can get his kids back), and Hank won't be dealing with the Fring case with his new job (well, he won't be "officially" dealing with it).

Edit: Marie was tolerable at first, pretty much a non-factor. As the series has progressed, however....

Meanwhile Skylar has improved, and has become less annoying. But now I just think she needs to go because of the plot.

The only situation where Skylar doesn't die is if she turns state's witness in exchange for immunity.

You underestimate Mike and his crew, I think. Heck, maybe even Saul knows a guy. Who knows a guy. Who...knows...a....guy.

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

This show is awesome.

Running thoughts.

GLM and I thought that Todd was an undercover....until the end of this ep. Wow. Just. Wow.

As a whole, this ep is the keynote ep of this half season, I think. There will be (and have been) eps this half season with more dramatic MOMENTS, but as a whole.....this ep was unreal.

Mike's vetting of "his guys" is impeccable, as proven by Todd. I still say Lydia needs to be gone, but she's still somewhat useful. For now.

Jesse's "no kids" rule was broken. Uh oh. And the development of his character (especially this season with the magnets and now the heist)? Awesome.

GLM brought up that Mike and Walt are at blows, and always ignore Jesse unless it's unavoidable. I agree that this could be key in the long run.

And now Skylar is Walt's ho, and not a partner nor wife. Well, basically. And Jr is gonna be a factor soon enough. The confrontation of moving back in was a foreshadowing of that plotline.

Edit to add: Spoiler alert, or whatever for those of you who come in here after they DVR the episode, but before you watch it...

Meth Damon over there sure follows his orders to a T. That wave of his was at first so awkward and disarming, I thought Todd was just being a nice guy. And then... bam. I suppose that squashes any Todd-was-going-to-be-an-informant theories.

Raise your hand if, at the start of the series, you ever thought Jesse was going to be the brains of the operation.

Well, this should be interesting. For one cook (currently), they use one 55-gallon drum (I know they are 55 gallon drums, because my company sells those size drums of stuff). They now have 1000 gallons. 1000. That's a LOT of cooks. Of course, after they are out....they may be out for a while. The train thing (and similar) was a one-shot deal.

Need to pad out the season somehow, might as well give him smarts he hasn't been using the rest of the show.

Why a one shot deal? Obviously if the train was stopped every week, there'd be problems. But say they do a cook a week, that's over 4 months worth of stuff. Another car breaking down on the tracks 4 months from now shouldn't raise red flags.

The same train or trains hauling similar materials all having a car inexplicably break down out in the middle of nowhere directly on the tracks?

That gives Mike enough time to cultivate a new source for methylamine.

I agree. Excellent episode.

I don't think there is an informant. It doesn't seem like Hank and his guys have any idea of whats going on. Also, I don't think they use the whole barrel for a cook, I think they get multiple cooks from a barrel, but I'm not really sure. I was rewatching some episodes from last season, and when Walt drops the barrel with the forklift, it isn't full.

Either way, that's a crapload of methylamine.

And the informant thing was due to finding out Lydia didn't plant the GPS thing, and some other office besides Hank's did. That's why I though Todd could have been an informant....until...well....you know. ;) He seems to either be a great red herring, or a critical part of supporting the plot line. Right now it's the latter. Validates Mike, shows that he will be loyal to whatever cause you pay him to support (even if it's someone he doesn't know, like Walt).

Re: Meth, I Hear You Callin': The Final Season of Breaking Bad

The Todd guy is going to be important throughout the season, I'm guessing. Its just tough to know how at this point.

Agree 100%. Given all the context of last night's ep....I thought that was when we were gonna find out. Nope.

Also, that intro with the spider.....GLM and I were 100% sure that was going to be the next "eyeball" (Season 2) teaser, where it wouldn't matter until a few eps later.
