Because he can use her to get the ingredient they need to continue production. The Feds took his nest egg (and the money he was likely going to leave for his family) so he's broke again. Killing the woman would have left him just as broke. Now he at least has a way to make back his money.

However, he was hesitating well before he asked her about that ingredient. With the previous scene with his granddaughter when Chouu called him, I think that link of the child is a factor.

Confesses what? I can't believe he'd just come out and tell Marie that he's the one her husband is seeking.

Her name is Lydia and she works/lives in Houston, not Germany. She will be the source for methalyne Walt and Jesse need.

He was always presented as intelligent. Very methodical in his ways because of his line of work. Most importantly, cover all loose ends. Which is why I was a little puzzled he didn't off the woman, despite the help she COULD be. I still say that her talking about her kid made him think of his grandkid, hence his hesitation in the first place. But she's a loose end, somewhat, right now.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think Mike is the weak link in the main trio, currently.

I didn't think that Lydia is from Madrigal, is there evidence of that? Madrigal builds equipment, for restaurants and other similar places, they're not a chemical company. I don't see how Madrigal is the source of methylamine, they are the source of all of the lab equipment.

Not killing Lydia was a smart move by Mike, he needs the money, just like Walt. She is essential in the future of the operation.

She's probably from some subsidiary company, like Gus was, and has connections.

Just re-watched the episode on DVR last night. That cold open was fantastic (Mrs. EoDS particularly likes the fact that he eventually just gives up on the sauces and keeps eating the chicken nuggets).

It's quite amusing to hear words like "Franch" and "Cajun Kick-***" thrown in with a large string of German words.

I'm curious to see what Gus's influence over the German guy was. I think Gus is the head of the operation, the kingpin, the mastermind. He's the one that originally approached the cartel, as we learned from the flashback. So did he get in with Madrigal just based on giving them a cut, or did he have some kind of leverage over them? I have to think that there is a strong connection, since the German dude killed himself...there was no way he could deny his involvment. These are questions that I'm not sure we'll get answered in the next 14 episodes.
