Merrimack '21-'22 - Finally Thread Worthy

Another come from behind win. This team is defined by their forecheck, speed and PP. Kudos to Vermont also on an inspired road effort.
Well speed and powerplay certainly got them the win last night! Jefferies can flat out fly. Watched the highlight of him winding up in his own zone in OT, streaking across the blue line and tapping home the winner. Beautiful. 3 goals on the weekend for him. Still in 3rd (although UConn has a game in hand).

HUGE game tonight at UNH. Warriors tied for 3rd with UConn and NU (who are playing each other tonight). Only 3 games left so every point is crucial to try and stay in the top 4 and get a home playoff game. Not sure if the big ice surface will be a plus or a minus. Speed is a big part of Mack's game (esp. Jandric, Jeffries and Durflinger) so that might benefit them Jeffries has been hot lately, hope he keeps it up! They rolled over the Wilcats @ Lawler, let's see if they can do it at the Whitt. I'm guessing that Ollas will be in net.

Okay, NOBODY envisioned MC tied for 2nd place with 1 weekend left. As MC announcer John Leahy said, next weekend's series against NU is MC's biggest series in a very long time. Last night's game was huge and they came up big (although they got a little sloppy late in the 3rd). A couple of beautiful goals (re-watch Brar's PP goal; Liam Walsh deserves and Oscar for a fantastic fake). Beating NU will be a tall order, especially with Devon Levi back in net. Great that there are so many meaningful games on the last weekend of the season.

Well, that was an ugly surprise! However, this team has shown character all year long and I expect a win tonight.

Ugly non-effort all the way around. Ollas is CLEARLY their #1 goalie and Borek chose not to play him last night. That's a head scratcher. Have to win tonight and then hope for good results in the other games to have a chance at a home playoff game since. Would be really disappointing if they drop from tied for 2nd to 6th place over the course of the weekend.

Absolutely gut wrenching loss. Went toe to toe the entire game only to make a couple of huge mistakes at the end. One, icing with 15 seconds left. Ok, Max Newton wins the faceoff, but somehow Jack Hughes manages to win a very quick puck battle against the boards and finds a wide open Aiden McDonough in the slot. Ballgame. How on earth do you leave NU's top goal scorer uncovered standing 8 feet in front of the goal with 10 seconds left? It just can't happen. Ollas was outstanding in net for MC, and Levi is the real deal for NU. MC was 10 seconds from getting a point and ending up alone in 4th, getting a bye, and then a home playoff game. Instead, they end up in 6th with an opening round game against Maine on Wednesday. Ifs and buts..........

Well, that loud THUD you just heard was Merrimack's '21-'22 season crashing to earth. Ouch!. Based on the lowlights, it looked like UML pounced on every loose puck, every juicy rebound. Unfortunate to have such a really bad defensive effort in such an important game. Congrats to the Riverhawks (as hard as that is to say!).

2 HUGE losses with Carlisle and Uens leaving. Will be very tough to replace, but hard to blame them. Changes the prospects for next year, but it would have been a surprise if all of the member of the current Jr. class stayed. Incoming recruit Zack Bookman looks like a strong offensive D man.
