Re: Mel Pearson-Michigan Tech's new Coach
I agree, it's no gravy train these days. Big time programs are in a struggle with drawing Canadian talent from the CHL Major Juniors and keeping their homegrown talent in state-then having them stay beyond two seasons. But, it is easier to draw kids when you have brand recognition and a current track record. Taking on a program like Michigan Tech or LSSU- very solid academic and hockey rich schools- is not the same as it was in the past. We had Chris Conner! isn't like saying we had Cammalleri, Komiserek, Cogliano, Johnson etc. etc. year after year.
Good luck to Mel and to MTU.
So because you're a big ten school, it's a gravy train? Michigan State, Ohio State, Minnesota and WI all missed the NCAA's this year. A little bit of short changing going on in my opinion. What Michigan has accomplished in his time there is amazing and only happens with a tremendous coaching staff.
Also to finish your sentence "You should come to Michigan Tech because we WILL win, and put you in the NHL." It's not much different of a strategy.
