this is actually a good question (I know, blind squirrel: nut, and the wrong thread etc. but). If you're considering Rud, do you put his record up against Fogarty's or Coghlin's head-to-head? It's a comparable level of play, right?. Of course the USHL draft means built-in advantages to some D3 schools (name, facilities, etc.) don't apply there.

Yes, I'd be interested in who they were talking to, but I wouldn't go to the lengths that the Techies are. Although to be fair, what else is there to do in Houghton? :D

to be really fair, Yoopers do take their hockey seriously.

I'm not convinced now either way until Pearson is quoted somewhere, suddenly too much mixed messages today.

The article in the DetNews was updated this evening but I didn't notice anything different.

To avoid this issue in the future, on what basis did this thread start? Are we allowed to hear sources now that it's dead? That way next time we can set a higher threshold for starting a new coach announcement thread.

It was all speculative. If anyone takes someone on a message board seriously when they say "blah, blah, blah, I have an infallible source!" they're not all there. Everything here is just rumors and speculation until there is an actual anouncement from Tech.

not all speculative. Tech did believe they had a deal with Mel (who, professionally, is now dead to me) and were planning an announcement.

he's so awesome and worth the buyout. three years left on the contract? they could cut a deal. I wonder if he has applied or been contacted by Tech?
