FWIW, RPI won the last game that a non-RPI fan started a score thread. Drshoen started one two years ago vs. Clarkson which we won. Overall our record is quite poor in such cases.

Re: Mariucci Classic: RPI @ Minnesota 1/4/14

I was listening to Colgate radio last night after the RPI game finished. Exciting overtime and a best of 3 shootout. Hate to say but i was rooting for Colgate simply so RPI could face Minnesota and get some TV time. Not very often we get to face 2 top 5 teams in one weekend-hope we can make fewer mistakes tonight than we did last night. It sure sounded like we did not play all that terribly but made our customary 2-3 big errors or turnovers and Ferris just buried them. Go Red!!

Re: Mariucci Classic: RPI @ Minnesota 1/4/14

I for one was very happy with the Colgate outcome, as it keeps the ECAC in the forefront of college hockey.
As for us having to play Minnesota tonight, We will have to be at our best. Stay out of the box, play flawless defense and score when the opportunity presents itself.

lets go red!!!!!!!

If we did all of that last night-we would be playing Colgate in the early game today. Our defense has been making that one or two mistakes that have really cost us in many games of late. It doesn't happen all that often but it seems we had 2 or 3 defensemen have an off night yesterday. Our offense did not seem all that bad-we scored 2 against a very good team-and it sounded like we had 4 or 5 really good other chances but as is often the case, could not convert. We will need to put it all together to have a chance in this one. Go Red!

Re: Mariucci Classic: RPI @ Minnesota 1/4/14

Woohoo! Big Ten Network!!! Thanks Colgate!

Would be a real kick in the teeth if BTN decided to replay the tape delay of the championship game at 8PM instead of the Minn/RPI game. I think I would toss the TV out the window.

Ugh, my cable provider doesn't carry BTN. Darn you Cox Communications!!!

They are probably unhappy that they went along with Minnesota and changed from their original schedule to the hockey game since they wanted #1 vs. #2, and RPI has little name recognition (not that Ferris has much either). Hopefully we will play a good game like we did 60 years ago, not like the last time we played Minnesota in the NCAA tourney. I doubt that they will change at this time and if so not for a hockey game with two non-Big-10 schools.

The last time we played Minnesota in the NCAA we got a very bad break and lost Jon Pirrong early in the game and he was playing as our best defenseman at the time. We were outplayed and lost badly-but the game was not going that badly until the loss of Pirrong for the game. Tonight, we need to play our best saturday game-and not our usual Friday night game. Minn put a lot of shots on Colgate yesterday and from the parts of the game that I was able to listen(late third period and OT) they could have won yesterday and avoided the dreaded shootout.

Re: Mariucci Classic: RPI @ Minnesota 1/4/14

I may have some trouble posting this evening. Since the game is on BTN we can watch on the big screen-which is a distance from the computer and because the start time is at 8PM-I have already had my first after dinner potent potable. Go Red!!!

Re: Mariucci Classic: RPI @ Minnesota 1/4/14

Time to ask the question-Who Are Those Guys? As Colgate shuts out Ferris Satae 3-0 after winning yesterday in a shootout. So much for comparing teams by games played against common opponents. We Beat colgate earlier this year in a game that was not really close. We lose to FSU but Colgate shuts them out. Just proves the adage that the game is played on the ice and not on paper or by computers. Good job by the Raiders and another plum for the ECAC.

That game is now a distant memory. I watched it in a house on Capitol Hill with several other posters from Hockey-L.
