Marian at Adrian - Nov 5 and 6

Re: Marian at Adrian - Nov 5 and 6

I'm new to the fan forum but have followed Adrian and the MCHA since day one of Adrian's program.

To introduce myself to all I will start with this: I am very proud to see how improved the top teams of the MCHA are since 2007. The league is starting to win games against NCHA and MIAC teams which didn't happen even two years ago... I also think that if there was ever a year for the Bulldogs to run the table it's this year. They were close last year to beating an NCAA veteran St. Norbert. Two years ago they were very good but I feel that the first years team was the most primed for an NCAA Championship if involved in the tournament. Until now. The seniors know it's their last shot and the newcomers are going to play a key role in the Bulldogs depth and a couple of them may be a help on the top two lines and on the already disgusting PP.

Fogal finally has someone to push him and the defense is still very good even without Stansik (a shame he can't be on the ice with the team this year). An older defensive core will hopefully cut down on the goals against. Playing against grade B and C teams has hurt the Bulldogs in the past because the D can afford to be lazy and sometimes a bit point hungry- causing bad habits against the top teams.

Bottom line is this... If the Bulldogs buy in to each other and stick together they have the pieces and the opportunity to run the table... or at least win the big games down the stretch.

One game at a time, though, and it starts tomorrow!

Oh yeah, almost forgot:

Adrian 5-2, 5-1

GO BULLDOGS!!!

Wow, predictions of 5-2 and 5-1?
That's mighty bold... lol

I don't see how it's bold when you have reasons that back it up and the Bulldogs track record of handling Marian... and at home none the less? The game last year in the playoffs was close only because of a hot Marian goaltender. If their goalie stands on his head this weekend then maybe, MAYBE, the games will be 3-1, or 4-2... But I'm sticking with my 5-2, 5-1 predictions.

I haven't really seen any other predictions. I'd like to see some.

Re: Marian at Adrian - Nov 5 and 6

Alright, I will go out on a limb:

Friday - Marian 6, Adrian 4

Saturday - Marian 4, Adrian 5

Marian has too much firepower to be held to one goal - question I am unsure about is how Marian's defense will do against Adrian's high scoring offense.

I just don't see all the "firepower". Last year they scored 4 goals in 3 games vs the Bulldogs in games with scores of 4-1, 9-1, and 3-2. I absolutely agree that Marian is improved but to say they have too much firepower may be the limb you went out on. Don't forget that in their last time out they scored 2 goals against Finlandia. And thus far they have only beaten a deflated Stout team 6-5 and scored 6 against Finlandia the night before putting up just a 2 spot.

If you're right I'll put my foot in my mouth... Time will tell

I will agree that if they don't put up that many it will be difficult for them to win. I do think that at this early point in the season it will be a higher scoring than last years playoffs - mistakes lead to goals and early in the season we will probably see both. Can't wait for the puck to drop tonight - always fun to cheer for the visiting team in a full rink!

Re: Marian at Adrian - Nov 5 and 6

Quiet in here today.

Someone wind that barge horn at Adrian up to max pressure and let her blow. Maybe it'd wake everyone up. After all, I need something to read on my lunch break :)

Re: Marian at Adrian - Nov 5 and 6

The last meeting of these two teams was on March 6, 2010 with the attendance listed at 988 with Arrington Arena having a listed seating capacity of 500. I suspect that there will be a similar crowd tonight with the majority being there to hear the big horn blow. The ACHA DI team blew the big horn seven times last night.

Must be a fun atmosphere ... I am hoping my schedule works out this year to make it over for the Harris Cup.

If you can make it to Adrian for the Harris Cup let us know, we can meet at a local watering hole before the games!
