Re: Maine

The optimist in me says 12-3, with the three losses in the road games against BC and PC.

The realist in me says 8-7, as they'll drop some to Connecticut like they always do, lose to Omaha in Portland, and lose both to Providence.

The pessimist in me says 5-10, as they limp to the finish line and don't sweep any series.

Neither 5-10 nor 8-7 will surprise me much, but 12-3 would floor me... Still, that's possible. As you say, the 2nd-half schedule is soft, and there are a lot of home games there.

Just saying, but HE has 5 teams in the PW top-16 right now, and the best OOC record of any conference. That circumstance might bolster Maine's PW (somewhat) as the season goes on, as long as they can finish strong.

I certainly don't see Maine as a tournament team at this point, but they *might* sneak in with a robust finish. (And a W or three v. BC, NU and/or PC will be critical in that calculus.)

Re: Maine

Saw NESN picked a best player of the decade for every Hockey East team and went with Hutton...... woof. Nyquist is the guy and if you want to say “he was only there 2 years of the decade” then its Spencer Abbott..

Re: Maine

Speaking of which the All Decade first team for Maine for me is pretty easy
F: Shore Nyquist Abbott
D: Hutton, O’Neill
G: Swayman

You are great. However, it is and has been lost.

Mr king is not coming back. Local radio gave him a big finger.

No hope now.

Re: Maine

Merry Christmas to all..! Good hockey on the Horizon, World Juniors begin tomorrow, Canada vs. USA @ 1pm from the Czech Republic. (NHL NETWORK) Dec.26 to Jan. 5

Re: Maine

I would think that todays game will be low scoring...3-2, 3-1...I like Maine chances at opening the 2nd half with a win...but I know better also, can't take AIC lightly. Again Swayman has to be the best player on the ice and somehow Maine gets enough offence to back his effort up.

Re: Maine

Unlike the pats at least maine beat a team it should have beaten.

You could probably delete “at least “. From the box score it looks like da bears kicked AIC’s arse pretty badly. And should have.

I was formerly a UNO Mavericks season ticket holder.
Now I am a Colgate season ticket holder.
With Colgate off next weekend, I thought I would drive to Orono to catch Omaha and log in a new rink.
I just saw tonight that I will be logging in two new rinks... in Orono and Portland. What is the deal with that scheduling? 6 p.m. on Friday in Orono and Noon on Saturday in Portland? Is that some kind of tradition? Mind you, I am not complaining. It just seems odd.

My unsolicited advice to you (as a guy who lives near Hamilton) is to go to Portland early on Friday, enjoy the food and craft beers in the Old Port, then take-in the early game on Saturday there. Portland is around 6-7 hours out- depending on how 495 is -but Orono is 8-9... And that's not counting anything more than gas/BR stops for either trip.

Maine generally plays 1 game a year in Portland, the state’s largest city. This is the game. Bring the game to the Portland/southern Maine fans rather than make them go up to Orono. Fish is right...your best play is to go to the Saturday game in Portland rather than do the Orono-Portland shuffle. Unless of course you really enjoy the windshield time. Portland has great restaurants/bars/pubs in the Old Port very near the arena. All that said, the 12 noon puck drop on Sat. in Portland is odd and unprecedented. I’d guess that Cross Arena already had a game or concert scheduled for Sat. evening. So drive to Portland Friday day, check out the activity, stay in Portland that night and hit the Commercial St. Pub early-ish for pre-game Sat. morning. C U there.
