They were the ones that kept us from a perfect season.
You're kidding, right? That was when both teams were good! A million years ago...![]()
We welcome all BU fans. We want an honest game.
They were the ones that kept us from a perfect season.
For those with DirecTV, the game is on Fox College Sports (FCS), which is channel 608, at 7:30.
While the GWG by Prendergast was a thing of beauty for BU fans, the reality is that BU win, coming back from being down 6-2, included some pretty fluky goals. The tying goal was a double deflection. Three times BU scored two goals in less than two minutes. Definitely a great game for BU fans, but Maine had the last laugh that season. They were a machine. Nothing was scarier than giving Paul Kariya and the rest of that loaded team a Power Play in the last few minutes of a time game.

If you look back at the CHODR (precursor to KRACH) that season, Maine, BU, Lake State and Michigan were far and away the best four teams in the nation and that Frozen Four was superb. It was also the only Frozen Four to feature all four of what would become the top four teams of the decade.
We were a machine, but we'd been snake-bitten in the tournament so many times. I'll never forget the faces in the locker room after the Michigan State shocker the previous season. The Michigan game was almost a monumental upset as well. Then to be trailing entering the final period on Saturday felt awful. Jim Montgomery had been a leader in so many ways but in the third period of that title game he was the definition of the leader by example. He was unstoppable.
By the way, the athletics department just released an ad for this game featuring a picture of Rob McGovern. Wonder if they consulted Red before that went out...
Jimmy was a leader. Shame on Maine for not taking him in. Imagine the difference. ???
Well, #uc!-a-diddle. Cut my skiing weekend short to park it in front of the tube for this one. If Rob starts, my prediction of a Maine win..?
A lot of you folks seem to regard UNH as Maine's fiercest rival, but to me it's always been BU. They were always infinitely easier to hate.
