Maine v New Hampshire

Re: Maine v New Hampshire

Does UNH offer free stream for the girl's games?

Sorry I never responded to this when I saw it earlier in the week. UNH usually live streams on the UNHAthletics youtube channel unless it's on ESPN+. Also, to any UNH mens season ticket holders you can get comp tickets to the womens game at the ticket window. For some reason they do not list that perk with your ticket packages anymore but they still honor it whenever I go.

Re: Maine v New Hampshire

UNH let Maine back in the game during the 3rd period. Shouldn't let that happen. Nazarian had quite a night. Two goals and an assist. Good goal tending on each team.

Re: Maine v New Hampshire

So, these two fairly evenly matched teams end the regular season 1-1-1. I doubt that the two teams will play one another again this season, unless a miracle occurs and they both get to the Garden.

You're suggesting Divine Intervention here..? ;).

Both programs are pretty bad, as in, no realistic shot at a stray acorn. Maine and UNH have become hapless... How times have changed.

Ii think that's a little dour as far as an outlook goes, no? Maybe that's how it feels for UMaine fans, and who am I to tell you folks otherwise. I know Red isn't seen as The Savior, and it's probably fair to say that he isn't reminding anyone in Orono of Whitehead, much less the messianic guy who preceded Timmy. But here in the early days of the Souza Era, fresh off a last place finish, and a terrible start to this season, there seems to be plenty of reason for optimism.

"Hapless" in comparison to where things were 15-20 years ago? No doubt. But this weekend was the first time UMaine v. UNH felt even 25% of how the Border War used to feel. That's a start. If Souza can continue and extend the upward trajectory of the last two-plus months, and if UMaine can get in some new blood to shake their program out of neutral, we may all be onto something special again.

Hockey East needs us both. The tournament struggles to fill half the house these days. A HE Tourney featuring UNH, UMaine, one of the Boston teams AND a Lowell or Amherst … sign me up. :) :) :) :)

You are correct in that Hockey East needs both UNH/Maine to bring up attendance in Boston and also when both teams are playing winning hockey they have the best travel fans around....as far as Maine...when or until Gendron is gone...then Maine will be just a thought, while UNH has started to play a whole lot better then the beginning of the season, especially playing so many tight overtime games....time will tell. I would say the next 2 seasons will see what direction UNH is heading in. But as far as the Border War feeling it still seems like a distant time in what was a heated rivalry between the teams and fans...……….

I couldn't agree more Chuck! I think the two teams could beat anyone in HE on any given night. The past is the past although I can understand the sentiments about how it 'used to be'. I can't speak for Maine fans and nor would I, but UNH fans are starting to feel something great is happening, and this current team is starting that process....there's still lots of hockey left and anything can happen. I think the future is very bright for UNH hockey, and hope Maine continues on it's quest to bring its program back. They played 2 great games this weekend. I'm gonna say (and it won't be popular) that we were lucky to come out with a win on Friday and found the back the net when we needed to!! Maine took it to UNH all weekend and they stayed the course night last night and were rewarded. As Coach Souza said in the paper our special teams struggled and that was the difference. Two excellent goal tenders as well it made for a great weekend...

I just don't see UNH as "pretty bad". I see us as a team that is growing in maturity, one that has come along way since Oct. Like I said I see a team who could beat anyone on any given night. I see a coaching staff that is working hard to instill the greatness of the past while moving towards the future. And I know a ton of other people who feel that way too. Keep on rocking these two programs; we may be down (in comparison to the past) but no way are we out!!!!

I cruised over to hang out near the press box for a few minutes during the first intermission, then caught up with e.cat on my cousins' side, where I took a seat for all three periods, as my usual standup top row seat next to the band was already taken by the time I entered the arena.

Good turn out by Maine fans at the Whitt on Saturday night. Like old times.
