I guess you could argue that the Ducks could have gotten even more offense by splitting them, but see #1: Karyia-Selanne sold tickets.

Why is everyone so sure there will not still be a national search? I was told by someone in athletic department there will still be national search. Go Black Bears says Head coach is TBA and Interim Coach is Corkum.

Looking like that may be the case but Maine is taking their time and apparently had no plan (unlike DU).
They probably need a committee to decide who is on the selection committee.
Any speculation on who the finalists will be other than Corkum? (I'm still disappointed one of them won't be Jimmy)
The rumors started flying with the whole interim head coach thing (just have the current associate head coach run things until a new head coach is selected. No need to name someone interim head unless you actually plan on an extended period with no head coach under contract. ). And then the whole not even contacting Jimmy about the job before Denver grabs him.
They should have had this narrowed down to a short list of 3-4 guys they could bring in as soon as they pulled the trigger on Timmay. And they should have pulled the trigger as soon as the bus got back from Lowell.

This thread somewhat reminds me of the Tech threads two years ago, after Pearson initially turned down the job. Based on an old rumor, some of us were speculating it was Suzie Pearson's fault, because a nasty rumor floated throughout the community for years that she hated Houghton and wanted to be closer to high-end shopping (Mel left for Michigan in 1988, and had been foolishly rejected by the previous AD during the 1996 coach search). This resulted in Mel indirectly addressing this issue during his introductory press conference, where he was clear to state that he and wife were both happy to move back after 23 years.
Anyway, you might've missed out on your first choice, but I suspect you'll find your guy. It wasn't that long ago you were in the Frozen Four, and the talent at forward as been there despite the lack of NCAA appearances in recent years. Good luck.

Typically you don't name an interim head coach when you fire a coach AFTER the season. Then you have corkum's message to the fans...didn't come across as an interim coach. And they didn't even talk to montgomery? Wouldn't that be part of a national search? Call me crazy but I think corkum is your guy.

That's the early speculation. I thought it was customary to do 3 week evaluation of the program and then another week or 2 to form a committee. Apparently the silly administrations at Denver and Ohio State don't think that way.

I bet they don't name an interim in Ohio or take weeks to starting talking to candidates. They probably talked to Gwoz before dismissing their coach.
I was going to give whomever the new coach is the benefit of the doubt and keep my season tickets a couple more seasons to see how things work out, but I'm so ****ed by this whole process I am thinking about being done with UMaine athletics.

They said the assistant coach will handle the day to day operations until there is a permanent replacement. They did not promote him or give him the interim tag. "Primary point person" is their phrase.

this is what you expect in the off season. No reason to name an interim head coach for what should take a couple weeks max.
