Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

I think the delay is out of respect for Dubuque. I can't imagine Abbott didn't know a couple months ago what he was going to do.
Really? Who the heck cares about Dubuque. Is their season going to be ruined by Timmay getting canned? I don't care if Jim is the next coach I don't see that as a factor at all

Jimmy probably cares a lot. If he has talked with Abbott they might have an agreement not to do it until after their season is over. We criticize the administration a lot but surely they're not complete idiots. There must be some reason for the current situation.

Perhaps the new coach (who had a little bit to do with that champoinship) could take the reins on the celebration.

surely there is nobody with more to do with that championship that the guy who set up the final 3 goals in the third period... I mean getting three consecutive ASSISTS when your team is losing 4-2 in the third period of a national championship game is hard to beat.

I don't know what the reason for the delay is. We all know SOMETHING absolutely has to happen.

This seems rather simple. If we read and understand all the facts and issues correctly, there are only two possibilities here for Ferguson/Abbott - one is valid; the other is invalid:
#1. Can Whitehead. Can him. Fire him. Sayonara! Send him packing. Pay him his last year, thank him for his service and call the moving van.
#2. Give him an extension to his current contract.

Leaving Whitehead in place as a lame duck for 2013-14 with no extension is NOT an option for these two guys nor for the Program. Correct? Yes, correct. SO.... based on the two possibilities above, there is realistically only one choice - #1. There is no possible way #2 is a choice for these guys.

The frustration is what it's going to be and WHEN.

Heard a rumor from a real good source today, the 190,000 to send Timmay down the road is there, one donor, one check, bye bye. Still don't think it happens though
The money was there 3 years ago also, but Kennedy would not go for it.

You notice when you look at TIMMAY's record since Grant left it's remarkably similar to his record at Lowell?

Maine has become a losing program over the past 6 years, both in conference and nationally.

27% of D1 programs make the NCAA tournament each year. Over the past 6 years, Maine's NCAA qualification rate is 17%.

Whitehead and Standbrook kept the ship afloat for 6 years, and deserve our thanks for it. But anyone who doesn't recognize that failure has become the new normal in Orono just isn't paying attention.

Someone wrote a letter to AD Abbott back in December when we were 2-9-2. I saw a copy from the author. The thrust of the note was that Whitehead lived on the Halo Effect of Walsh for several seasons and when left to his own devices, couldn't count his nuts twice and get the same answer. The stats below underscore that exactly correctly. It is not coincidence. OH, but the team's GPA has risen a point under Whitehead. We cant forget that. Enough. Get this ridiculous formality of an evaluation done and let's go! I have to agree with a post from yesterday. Abbott has probably known for a while what he has to do and what he's going to do. The wait is freakin' AGONIZING!

Oh, there's lots of crack houses in rural Maine. Only now it's meth and oxy.
