Totally disagree. I guess besides UAA canning Shyiak, Denver didn't see it this way either. All due respect, canning Whitehead is hardly going to take focus away from, or make a difference to, the NCAA Hockey Tournament. Gwozdecky is one thing. 19 years at DU, two NCAA titles, great success at the WCHA and the NCAA level, a lot of players in the NHL etc etc... That's major Div 1 NCAA hockey news.

Whitehead the poor dope, who can't find his a55 with both hands, won't even register in the national college sports press. Might make USA Today or the Globe. Might... The Globe will put it in the Obits or something. Who really cares except us Maine hockey fans?

Yeah, the guy won two national championships, and got his team to the tourney again this season, and he gets chit-canned. And yet, it's taking a month to make a decision on Forever Five Hundred TIMMAY .

Oh, but all those Frozen Fours!! The Spencer Penroses!!! :rolleyes:

And yesterday, BDN on-line publishes the lengthy article about D.U. Coach Gwozdecky getting canned. Minor reference therein to Maine's record overall against DU, including the 1-0 loss in the 2004 NCAA final. Now why would BDN publish this detailed of an article on a program 2,198 miles away?? Hmmm..... Larry, any insights? :D

Sad that we get better reporting from the BDN about Denver's program than we do about Maine's program...........:rolleyes:

Ben Bishop was traded to the Lightning today for Cory Conacher and a 4th round draft pick today.

Should be interesting to see what happens in Tampa as they currently have Anders Lindback (21 games) and Mathieu Garon (16 games) essentially sharing the starting duties... both have similar numbers approx 2.85 GAA and 90.25% Save Percentage.

Bishop brings with him a 2.45 GAA and 92.2% save percentage in 13 games...

and Joey scored the game winner on a night that he earned 5 for fighting against a 6'7" defenseman (one foot taller that Diamond)... Joey Domi!

this was Joey's second fighting major, although Mike Cornell got his first professional fight in before Joey did.

Bishop was brought in to play,look for him and Linback to be the tandem in Tampa for the remainder of this season and for both to push each other next season for the #1 job in net...Garon is the odd man out...good spot for Bishop to land,he'll play...figured he could have also been dealt to NJ/EDM or CGY

Just saw the highlights, nice redirect on the goal, joey camped out in front. Questionable hit on the Dman, no penalty though and the Dman lost it before Joey even knew what was going on, never really hit Joey even though he was blindsided.

I'm looking at it from a Hockey East/national POV...........obviously, they are going for the biggest draw.........they might be in for a surprise though considering how Lowell is rising and Maine is falling.
