So if you're a Maine fan I guess you can be critical of the coaching, the AD, this "review process", the team, the players, etc, etc, but God forbid if a non-Maine fan questions how anyone in their right mind would refer to Maine's returning players as being "tremendous". If Coach York came out today in the papers and said this had been a tremendous season, or if he'd made the same ludicrous remark about their being tremendous talent returning next year for BC, I would have called him crazy as well, but thank God he's not that dense. Bottom line is that the bar has apparently been lowered quite a bit up at Orono.

Well if it's too LOW for you...you can leave or you can continue to post...if it makes you feel better. Is it too lonely at the TOP that you have to feel you need to add insult to injury..? Oh maybe the Bar has dropped a notch at BC..? Oh you can feel better as BC & Minnesota are reported to have the one and two best recruiting Classes this upcoming season...so maybe you(BC)and the Golden Chokers from the Hockey State(MN.)should get your Reservations ready for Philadephia 2014...and then you both can raise the Bar together...

This has nothing to do with BC or Minnnie and everything to do with the future of Maine hockey, and if I'm a Maine fan and I hear the guy that's supposed to be analyzing the health of the program refer to the returning talent as tremendous, then I'm not feeling to good about his rationale to do so.

FYP, that's what you sound like to us, cdubbs. Save your sanctimonious bull5hit. It is honestly really annoying, but you obviously know that - that's why you're trolling as hard as you are. You love BC hockey, and that's awesome, but you don't care a whit about Maine hockey - only so far as it helps increase your own PWR. So do the honorable thing, and flock off.

Hey I love Coach Whitehead and hope that he gets an extension..........but "tremendous talent" on THIS team?????? If it ain't the talent then it has to be the coaching.........and it CAN'T be the coaching!

I'll say one final thing on the BC-Maine argument; I think the future for Maine is a lot brighter than BC. Timmy is only going to be around for at most another year and Maine has pretty good talent in this year's freshman class and hopefully next year's. Things are going to get better soon. I think BC has some problems and while York has been a good coach I think he winds up hanging around for too long. A lot of people under rate how good of a leader Tommy Cross was, losing him was harder than Dumolin or Kreider IMO and it will be hard for them to ever find another captain as good as him.

I'm not sure sure why you think that barrett is trolling priceless??

He posted what appears to me as being a relatively well-reasoned and level headed opinion.

My take: Abbott overstates the returning talent to keep casual fans interested and to hopefully keep season ticket packages at a relatively stable level. The actual returning talent is slightly above average at best. The incoming recruiting class is probably also slight above average at best.

Maine has middling talent year to year relative to their counterparts and it will be that way for a while IMO. kerluke has improved the talent level of his average recruit but I'm not so sure he'll be able to bring in NC level teams in the future.

To me, Abbott's inability/unwillingness to make quick and definitive decisions (ie. getting rid of the TW's) makes him a bad candidate for AD going forward. give me someone with a long term vision that doesn't include employing coaches who have proven incapable of getting the job done.

It's true. Great point.

Finding a Mike Brennan, or a Brian Gionta, or a Tommy Cross, or a Matt Price or a Marty Reasoner or a Ben Eaves. Those guys are once in a lifetime finds. Or 6 times in 16 years if you actually add it all up.

Those great leaders are so tough to find for BC. I doubt BC ever finds another hockey player with good leadership. Maine on the other hand will definitely find another Kariya, Montgomery, and Imes soon. The Black Bears have a way way way brighter future than BC. You'd have to be crazy not to see that. Not to mention how terrible BC's recruiting class is next year. Maine's is way way better.

The WCH blog is saying he was FIRED. FIRED! And Maine can't get rid of Whitehead based on his past heroics of LOSING TO GWOZDECKY IN A NC GAME!!!!

Cause they're young, and need to learn how to score goals and how to win games. You just wait till the 2015-2016 season!!!

But apparently Lowell's nine freshmen already know how to score goals and win games. Boy, wish we had freshmen like that. Where do you find those guys, anyway? And that Derek Arnold kid. Why can't TIMMAY recruit guys like him?
