Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

Did we know about Luke Coughlin or is the team twitter account possibly breaking news
It's news to me. Great timing though, he is returning from injury tonight for game 3 of the QMJHL finals. streams free and in english on victory + at 4pm tonight and tomorrow.

Notably he has had a lot of injury issues during his QMJHL career. Like Cayden Lindstrom, might be good for him to try the lighter schedule to gain strength.

It might be on At 4 pm for you, but it is on at 7 pm here.

It is showing as being broadcast on NHL Network Channel on my guide, so that is nice.

Seems like good news but I have to wonder if Holt is going pro, or Langlois isn't recovering they way they hoped.

Holt - Djurasevic
Langlois - Chabrier
Usuereau - Peterson
Coughlin - Motew
- Nobes/Arnott

Is a crowded blue line.

I agree, with this addition it almost confirms that there is a least 1 defensemen going pro.

you are correct- I normally remember to put it in ET. brain fart. i believe NHL network will have most of the championship games going forward unless there is some conflicts. game 5 in moncton would be 6pm ET, i think if needed game 6 is matinee.

Puck Preps says he's a 4.5 star, but I've got no clue if he has been living up to that. Can our resident CHL experts help us out?
2023 6th round pick to Florida, Charlottetown, PEI native. mobile offensive D.

Whether or not he's living up to it is tougher to tell because of that aforementioned injury history. Great skater agility wise, not a total black hole defensively, good transition game. for 3 straight seasons he's been half a point per game. Lots of raw tools and offensive promise, keeps trying to put it all together but the stops and starts don't help. Sleeper prospect in terms of pros, college is probably the ideal location to help him

Exit Arnott??
Arnott can't really go anywhere now that the portal closed unless his scholarship gets revoked. I also doubt Holt goes pro at this point. He is still looking at significant minutes and probably a letter. Just an embarrassment of riches on the back end. Maybe we run the worlds first 4 D powerplay.

Curious to see how our CHL guys stack up compared to the other schools. On paper, this would be the best d core in the country last season but I’m imagining everyone else’s talent level going up a notch or two as well.

Coughlin looks like yet another good pickup, and as others have said it could be a challenging blue line to get minutes on next season. I know I've mentioned it a few times, but the defense was Barr's specialty and area of focus at UMass, so I trust his eye on the blue line even more than I already do up front and in goal, which is a lot. It would seem to imply that either someone (probably Holt, but maybe Chabrier) is going pro, or maybe that someone won't be coming in as soon as we think? (Looking at you, Peterson). Who knows, will be for sure interesting to see how the roster shakes out. The way the team worded it on social media makes me think they might be announcing all the incoming arrivals over the next few days.

Yes, saying “starting things off” implies more is coming.

“Excited to announce some roster additions...And we’re starting things off with Rimouski Océanic blue liner and Florida Panthers draft pick, Luke Coughlin!

Welcome to Orono, Luke!”

The portal is closed except for coaching changes and scholarships being pulled. I could potentially see Arnott trying to get some time as a forward.
Could pull his scholarship, no idea what he has for one, but a possibility.
Or barr just carries a large d roster, which I wouldnt expect.

Well, even with this latest addition they are at the same number of defensemen on the roster. Five out and five come in… Lesakowski, Antonacci, Breazeale, Dalton, Morse all leave and in come Langlois, Usereau, Petersen, Motew, and Coughlin.

The house settlement and the roster limit at 26 might not happen or might be greater than 26.

This defense looks highly mobile. I hope they develop and can be good in their own end as well. Doesn’t seem like we have any prototypical stalwart defensive d men at all. But a ton of d men that can move the puck, walk blue line and get involved on the o.
