Extremely excited and proud to announce my commitment to the University of Maine. #GoBlackbears

all bear already approves of this kid :)

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Thanks for the link. Sounds like a mature 13 year old, and the coach backed that up. And it is nice that a player of his caliber is on the board. Maybe this helps other recruits he may compete with and against decide on Maine.

On Trobot, again, sounds like a very solid recruit. Hopefully this gets a scenario going where others want to play with him too.

We may be getting the cart before the horse, but perhaps this is a great combination of coaching. I heard tonight on radio show that coach Leach works a lot on the power play.

With Gendron and Guite speaking both English and French... and with Oullette being the top dog on this team - I am looking forward to some solid recruits out of Quebec and Acadia.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

I spoke briefly with AJ on twitter and he seems like a well-spoken young man who loves his hockey. When I say well-spoken, I mean he's a teenager who uses complete sentences and actual words when communicating with others...a rarity in the Internet world.

He's probably the most well spoken kid I have interviewed. I thought I was talking to a young adult (ie kid graduated college).

High-scoring forward commits to Maine
By Nathan Fournier

The recruits keep rolling in for the University of Maine men’s hockey team.

After receiving verbal commitments from forward Oliver Wahlstrom and defenseman Malcolm Hayes last week, the Black Bears received a verbal commitment for the 2016-‘17 season from one of the best ’98-born players in the Mid-Atlantic region in A.J. Drobot.

The 15-year-old from Churchville, PA., is in his first year with the New Jersey Rockets U19 team, which plays an independent schedule. The 5-foot-8 forward has 32 goals and 18 assists in 42 games this season.

Forgot to add. Nolan Vesey and Ryan Badger are taking part in the USPHL All-Star game on Monday.

Looks like another good pickup for Maine.

98 D Konstantin Chernyuk (Wilkes-Barre U16) commits to Maine. 6'1 skater is a lanky, mobile, puck-mover with all the upside in the world.

Maine lands 15-year-old Russian recruit
By Nathan Fournier

University of Maine head coach Red Gendron has picked up a raw 15-year-old defenseman from Russia.

Konstantin Chernyuk, a 6-foot-3, 170 pound defenseman from Saint Petersburg, Russia gave his verbal commitment to the Black Bears. The earliest he would arrive on campus is the fall of 2016, pending his compliance with NCAA rules and acceptance into the university.

Chernyuk has been honing his craft with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Jr. Knights U16 National team that plays in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League’s Tier I National minor midget league.

I will have update all the recruits stats by Monday. I have been busy with other work this week.

Good deal...one question is on Zack Glienke...is he still on Maine's rader for next season or has Maine & Glienke decided to go in different directions..?

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

I think he will be finding another school. For the record he has 2 goals and an assist in 11 games with Sioux City.

Here are the stats https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JyMVVpSTRrMVNCeXdfMENYenc&usp=drive_web#gid=0

I have updated all the prep players stats with the help from herbst20 who has a key to get into Fort Knox (USHR.com) which seems is the only source for prep player stats.
