Maybe they know something we don't? :D They both look pretty legit.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Gilenke is a '94, and is listed by Chris' site as a '14 recruit.

He is also a finalist (Zach Glienke) for Mr. Hockey in Minnesota. Goes to Eagan High School, the same school as current Maine freshman Will Merchant. Merchant was also a finalist for the Mr. Hockey award in Minnesota state high schools. Also, he is listed in the NHL Central Scouting as a draft selection.

Tyler Gjurich scored his 50th goal on Sunday for the Jr. Sabres. Only the second player in franchise history to score 50 goals in a season.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Gjurich's coach is former Buffalo Sabre Michael Peca...a guy who put some offensive numbers in his day

By Nathan Fournier Published: 26th February 2013

LEWISTON – Another Mr. Hockey finalist from Minnesota has committed to the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team.

Last year, it was current freshman Will Merchant, and now it’s forward Zach Glienke of Eagan High School, who will arrive on campus next fall.

By Nathan Fournier Published: 26th February 2013

LEWISTON – The University of Maine Black Bears have picked up the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s leading scorer Tyler Gjurich for next season.

The 20-year-old from Hatfield, Pa. finished this season with 97 points (53 goals, 44 assists) in 53 games playing for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

“It’s a great school. It will be a great opportunity there for four years then looking at the pros,” said Gjurich on committing to Maine.

Right...Other schools wanted him to play a year of juniors before offering him...Maine was the only school to offer him for this upcoming year.

Interesting. Any idea why Maine has so many forward recruits for this year and next? There are only two seniors next year and like five guys lined up.

I'm assuming you're talking about Gjurich? He's going to turn 21 this May ... he can't play juniors after that and retain four years of eligibility can he? If he came in for 14/15, he'd be a 22 year old freshman on the first day of school?

Would be nice to see him at Maine before he goes grey...........

I could be wrong of course, I don't know all the rules about this. I just thought you lose a year if you play juniors after you turn 21?

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

These 2 seem like terrific recruits for Coach Whitehead. I think that recruiting is on the upswing.

Go Black Bears!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

We were talking about the other lad.
Thanks Drew. I had noticed that the kid I mentioned also didn't mention any other offers, so that's why I had asked who you were talking about. Thanks for the clarification.
