Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Well said. This obsession with the "country club" atmosphere was an illusion for these posters and never existed. The phrase is only used to further demonize TW as a person and coach.
From the stands it appeared the players weren't in the same physical shape or conditioned as past UMaine teams. So country club might be a bit of an stretch, but you were there did they fade in the 3rd of alot of games?

I was at every home game and in my opinion they lost games because the opposition had more skill and was not a result of being out of shape.

Thats fair, Tim will still get the blame for that.

you shouldda been at some of Tim's practices. I would call them "country club", but I only have a couple of Shawn's to compare them to. (oh and Juniors)

i have a feeling that runsub is going to have her eyes opened soon, after seeing the difference between:

the respect that the players show toward Red (even though they will not all "like him") and
the on-ice product.

Not only were some out of shape, but a lot of times by the end of the 1st and 2nd periods they were wore down...things will change with a New Coach..attitude/conditioning and realizing that it says Maine in the front and something to play for again...not talking a good game or two plus the never ending excuses...but instead showing it on the ice.

Now, on the "we" thing... while it should have been obvious to most Nick isn't a Maine fan... it should be equally obvious what his point was. That was for all intents and purposes the last highlight of the recent Maine squads. And while it is foolish to think about... it is equally foolish to accept this is the best we can do.

I agree with MaineHockey and other posters that this new coaching staff will get things going in the right direction. We saw the ceiling previously of the Whitehead era when it was his staff and his team. It wasn't good enough. I think the new staff will either achieve similar success or more. My hunch is more. It is an exciting time and I can't wait to see this new team skate!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Looks like a fairly impressive group, on paper anyway. Kind of surprised that Red could bring this many guys in on short notice. (I do realize that a couple of them were looking at Maine before Tim got fired, but still...)

The Warden and I are already moving things around to be in Canton for the series with The Larries. It's the first time in years that we've been truly excited about Maine's upcoming season.

I have a good feeling about 2013/2014.

All of these players were committed to Maine before Gendron took over. The only addition he made was the transfer from UMass who played in the BCHL the 2nd half of the season after leaving Amherst.

With that said what is the status of Andrew Tegeler..? Does he start the the Season with Maine or does he have to wait till the 1st of the year to play..?

Yeah, I meant to say that I recognized a few names... I haven't been following the recruiting closely at all in the past couple of years.

There's a couple of guys with nice numbers, but I have no idea if they played decent competition while racking them up. Who, if anyone, is looking like a potential standout to you?

This class looks pretty good, decent USHL players for a few. More talent than UMass, UVM, NU, MC. Need to get good goaltending and defense to move up more in standings. Shore and Anthoine have breakout years. Mark it down.
