Maine Hockey

Re: Maine Hockey

Brooke Carriere(20/21), Left shot forward, Toronto Aeros, Aurora, Ontario, High compete level, has breakaway speed, uses speed to create rush opportunities, plays on power play, plays with head up and makes plays. Neutral zone has her rated 34th in Ontario for her class and a 3.5 / 5.

Jorden Mattison(20/21), Goalie, Etbicoke(PWHL Intermediate AA), Fenwick, Ontario, There is no scouting report for her. Just a 3.25 / 5 rating. It is hard to find much info on her. She is playing in a good league it seems in the intermediate AA league. Only thing that seems like a problem is there are two teammates that are UNHers, so she'll face a lot of breakaways when they are taking a shift in front of her. :D

Ella Maclean(19/20), Antigonish, NS, Left shot defensemen, She was ranked 81st for north American players by neutral zone and a 3.75 / 5. She made the Atlantic squad and played in national U18 championships. She has size and smooth skating, is a good puck lugger, and makes moves at the point to generate scoring chances.

Gabrielle Plourde(21/22), ST-CYRILLE-DE-WENDOVER, QUE, Right shot winger, only found one article were they discuss her being selected to represent Quebec at the U18 championships, so must be very good.

Nice that all the rookie forwards scored. Imagine you came away impressed by Tedenby and Beltz. Wished I could have watched it.

Re: Maine Hockey

I was able to watch the replay. I realize the UNB team is a step or two below. But if I compare the freshmen to others on the Maine team it is very encouraging. Not a shot against other upperclassmen, but more of a compliment to the freshmen class. Tedenby looked fantastic. She had 2 goals and 2 assists. And the scary thing she could have had more points. Beltz was also fantastic and showed great stick handling. Imagine both these freshman play on the top power play unit. Johnson played aggressive power forward role where she used he skating to get into position to receive passes and get pucks on net. She also battles well in tight to the net. Miljones was all over the ice and constantly pressured to gain possesion of the puck. Press reminded me of Matteau with he point pressence. On her goal I thought it was Matteau until the announcers said it was Press. All of the freshmen looked great. We will have to wait and see what the line up is next week, but it wouldn't surprise me if all of the freshman are on the ice.

Re: Maine Hockey

Ives was the only reason Q was in that game. The Black Bears played a good game.

I couldn't watch last night. Any way to watch a replay? I see ESPN plus, but doesn't seem like there is a way to watch a replay.

Too bad I missed it. I see freshmen Beltz, Tedenby, and Press all got an assist.

Re: Maine Hockey

Maine wins 3-0 to sweep Quinnipiac this weekend.

Miljones got the first goal by stick handling and wheeling in the slot then snapped a wrister against her momentum just inside right post. Vanisova had a beautiful short hander after going coast to coast, in alone on goalie, deked and got goalie done, then flipped it into open net backhanded. Third goal was by Leech, she simply dumped in on the goalie and the goalie misplayed it with her blocker and it trickled in.

The freshmen all played great. Miljones drew a lot of praise from the broadcasters.

Re: Maine Hockey

Maine wins today 8-0 to complete the sweep of Sacred Heart. Maine outscored SHU 16-0 on the weekend. I was able to watch the game today and Maine probably had possession for 55 of 60 minutes. It was as lopsided of a contest as I have seen. As usual the freshmen all played well, and Vanisova was her usual self. Nice to see Flynn get some game time. Go Blue!
